People fail to realize that most of Apple's products are not targeted towards the Indian consumers, their main base is in USA and Europe + few other countries like Australia, Japan.
India comes pretty low on their list, which is evident by the fact they start selling everything that the Americans just dumped to get a new one(iPad 3, iPhone 4S), hell, I saw an ad
for iPhone 4 priced at more than 20k somewhere.
This just doesn't apply to Apple, many fall into this category of making India their dumping ground for last year tech.
For an average American, the iPhone 5c offers good value for money. If Apple was really fair, they could have easily priced it around 23k, which is more than what this phone is worth, but 40k? Only iDiots are going to buy that, and it doesn't offer anything new either, not even the fingerprint sensor.
