Are their any specific settings for Vodafone 3G?

Hi. Knowing that Vodafone is providing a free trial of their 3G services for their 2G data customers, I sent an sms 'ACT 3G' to 111. THey promised that they will charge the same tariff as the user's 2G data plan until 31 March 2011 (and then have the users pay for it if they wish to continue)I got a confirmation that 3G is active on my phone after a few hoursNow, I have 'www' and a 'portalnmms' APNs set up on my Nexus One but irrespective of what I do, I just get the 'E' (EDGE) icon, but never the 3G iconMy point is, are there any specific settings to access Vodafone's 3G service? Thanks!

Did you check if you have the 3G coverage in your area?

Hmm.. interesting. Really not sure if 3G is available in Vashi (Navi Mumbai). Can someone please confirm?

You can use your phone to verify. In your network mode, change the setting to WCDMA / HSPA ONLY and then do a manual scan.

@agantuk I do a WCDMA-only search and nothing. It just goes back to EDGE. Well, can't do much.

Step 1) Switch off your phone and switch it on again - you should be getting 3G written where you earier read Edge/GPRSStep 2) In case you dont see 3G - go to network setting - select UMTS/Manua and seect your operatorStep 3) Start browsing - no separate APN is required - Vodafone Live/Connect both wil use the 3G network and workOther points to be noted1)3G is available in Vashi ...so you should be getting the signal2) You will get 3G signal at the cost of 2G till the official 3G plans are not launched (and not till 31st March - as written by you)3) If you are on data plan - be very careful not to exceed it - else you will be charged at 10P/10Kb and at 3G speed - it will be a bamb in few minutes

got Vodafone 3G working on my Motorola Milestone 2, but the problem is i can only use my browser to access internet, can't use any internet based application(social networking service,weather,other application which uses internet) is there anything do i need to change..

You might be using vodafone live as your connection. You will have to use vodafone mobile connect using apn as www.

Vodafone Live also works fine for all mobile based applications - Facebook, chat messengers etc (atleast for me)

To connect it to laptop/PC you need Vodafone connect.
