My bsnl pings are pretty good if i use their own dns and pings are worst when i use open/google what ever it is...
When there is a low speed I will just switch to dns advantage pings are very bad though.. I keep changing it.

BSNL pings used to be in 200/300+ range irrespective of the DNS settings for me. I've tried everything possible before giving up on BSNL, for more info check this thread: https://broadband.forum/bsnl-broadband/79111-getting-3-4mbps-bbg-uld/2/#post637767

DNS can definitely affect speed because CDNs allot the nearest server to you according to the DNS server location. Earlier google DNS servers were outside india, so this was a huge problem. I don't think that's the case anymore because I think google DNS has servers in India. What's your ping to 8.8.8.8 ? Also see what IP supportdownload.apple.com resolves to when you are using the different DNS servers(flush the DNS between changes) and measure the ping time to those IPs.

These servers are quite important ones.Do atleast a few of the ones that I had posted earlier m8.They aren't standard servers know so I think they may differ a bit more.
