Only BSNL people can do something. I don't think it is some issue at your end.

1. chech/post ur speedtest result. go to https://www.speedtest.net/
2. do you use torrent? if so choose the healthy ones.
3. sometimes there is a cut in the speed, may drop to 40-50 kbps but on an average it is relatively good

OK I have noticed a weird behavior. If I put up a couple of files download let us say File A - 600 MB & File B - 900 MB. After an hour or so during 2 to 8 AM period, the download stops at around half of the said values.
Browser shows it as download complete. why is that so ? Does the server close the connection purposefully ? Please enlighten.

No no its not the BSNL problem , its a common problem that users face while downloading large files. i too face it t but i use IDM downloader (i personally recommend it) which simply refershes the link and resumes it, if the server at the other end supports resuming. For large files always use a downloader rather being dependent on the browser...
Try IDM (5 MB) http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/download.html
BTW experiencing very HIGH PINGS today. Online gaming is a nightmare! sorry ARKHAM ORIGINS you have to wait a little bit longer...

I have been using Firefox hence I have started using "DownThemAll" addon. Could you please guide me how to use this add-on ? I have used it against file hosting sites like filesflash, ultramegabit e.tc but all I get is just some html files rather than expected files. Thanks !
Does anyone use DownThemAll add on with any file hosting sites ? Please guide me.

@karteek , are you still getting slower speed ?
Yeah I am at around 100KB/Sec, BSNL is neatly throttling the speed at my end at around 100KB/Sec. When they increase it to 200KB/Sec, DSL will become unstable. That is my observation.

I had FN 500 till December, it constantly gave 230 KBps from 2007 but around October it was lower than 50, after several complaint nothing changed so I changed plan to ULD 800, which is a big mistake, so I am reverting to FN 600, that's why I am asking about speed, thanks.
