Please clear this thing.I head that they have 4mbps bandwith allocated to a pool and users with that network say 10.10.222.65 gateway and under it from 10.10.222.68-10.10.222.255 they accommodate 20-30 users and they share that pool bandwith

Cablewalas in Kolkata uses this software for everything starting from contending bandwith, pool creation, bandwith policy etc.

Not one and the same, really. The contention ratio on Wishnet's website is *supposed* to be for every 1 megabits they sell they have a maximum of 20 users sharing that bandwidth, so if they have 20,000 users, they have maybe 1gbps bandwidth for example.

As for this 24online policy creation thing, that's the cablewala distributing bandwidth, not really the ISP, even though this is the ISPs billing system, it's his reseller account, he's chopping up bandwidth as he sees fit, and my guess is that he's doing exactly what it says on the box: selling plans up to 4mbps and putting up to 20 users on it. Why he's doing it this way I can't say, maybe he's relying on metrics that only a couple of people at any one time are going to be downloading stuff.

See, this is why contention ratios are such a pain to measure, they're different at every point on the network and different for each technology used.

Although I fear we may have significantly deviated now from the original topic - possibly another thread should be created as we no longer seem to be talking about leased lines for small data centres.
