Hi Guys,, I am up with a very serious problem of failing to connect to global internet via bsnl broadband Home combo500...( windows xp/7 both) The modem seems absolutely fine to me and when I try to connect by double clicking on the Data-one(or Bsnl Broadband link) the 3 steps 1. Connecting through wan PPOE2. Verifying username and password3. Registering your computer on the networktakes abnormally long time(nearly a minute) and even if it succeds,,,,,, on opening any of the web pages through browser it gets disconnected giving redial options..Most of the time it fails giving error codes like :1 :the remote computer closed the connection2: the port was closed3: the modem didn't respond in a timely manner 4; the phone line is busyHowever ,,during the same day there are times when it connects appropiately and the next time it is failing ..althouth the latter fail percentage is more....Pleast suggest a possible reason for it,,is it a tech failure or action of spyware, malware, viruses and what am i to do as soon as possible....thank you

Which mode are you in ? If in PPPoE, no need to dial. Simply switch ON the modem and start browsing. I think you are using dialer but is in PPPoE. Try and feedback.

This a special type of problem mostly occurs in windows 7. i too had it and banged my head for about 1 week.:readtherules:

Windows 7 has a corrupt pppoeras.dll in windows folder which has to be replaced by a clean xp or vista one. But my suggestion is not to interfere with OS files.

Search on the net for win7 internet problems and you will know.

The Solution is simple.:)

Just format c drive and reinstall win xp only. Do not use Win7 as it is only beautiful in view but not in performance.

Hope, You will be able to connect now. I too did the same and got rid of the problem.

Are you having the same problem i xp? Here might be a problem. Don't use two OS at a time in pc. Just go with xp as it is reliable.

Enjoy Surfing!!!

Hi..This is happening since 3-4 days. Whole India, BSNL is down.I have confirmed it from 5-6 of my friends.I have 8mbps line and Im getting like 0.30MBps. WTF!

No, I don't think BSNL is down. It would have slowed down other's speed too.But I am able to surf and download perfectly normal.:thumbsup:BTW, I am on 500/- night unlimited plan.

Very poor reply sorry!
Windows 7 is far from perfect and better than XP nowadays. You just need to have the right hardware to run it :thumb:

Infact, BSNL is having problems with its network and it has been confirmed from my friends from other states and also a few from this forum too.
If you are having good speed, enjoy it.
