I have head that BSNL have tri band which offers speed of 7.2 mbps.
And is given in this site also. :: BSNL 3G :: Look at the bottom of the page.

What i want to know is that, is it available in Kerala? What do we need to get 7.2 mbps.?

it is max 3.6 right now hope changes when new operators arrive and u should be happy if u get 3 to 2.5 mbps .Between that thing mentioned in the page at bottom is max speed provided by the data card.

is there any differences between USB 3G modem 7.2 mbps and a mobile phone with HSDPA 7.2mbps in relation with download speed and getting 3G signal???

I think not much difference if you use Nokia.

Although this is not related to the topic but is there any Nokia mobile similar to Nokia 5800 XM but with 7.2 Mbps modem ?

Nokia and other 3g enabled phones are not good to support even the existing 3.5 g bsnl. You can use a good USB modem like Huawei or ZTE to experience the real speed.

dude , modem is same with mobile and usb doungle , but in mobile , battery die up too fast , better use usb doungle on 7.2mbps front , bsnl guys like always old , they start with old tech just 3.4mbps , their 7.2mbps network is only running in Banglor , docomo and all other operator uses HSPA+ tech to offer max 21mbps speed

BSNL does indeed have 7.2 MBPS enabled 3G towers. I live in Mangalore, a small coastal city in southern karnataka and i am able to get sustained download speeds of 6 to 6.25 MBPS (Thats around 700 KB/s). In fact one of the forum users has reported getting over 13MBps using the new 21 MBPS 3G data cards. I think BSNL has not capped the upper limit in all areas. Speedtest gives me a throughput of around 1.4 MBPS, however using a downloader like orbit gives me 6 MBPS on a fileserve premium download

BSNL does provide 7.2 Mbps or not in your city, if you buy a connection go for 10.2 Mbps or 21 Mbps modem from outside like ebay or store. It helps you in the future after the private operators roll-out the 3g with high speed. Also price diff. is not much high as 7.2 modems around 2600/- and 21Mbps modems are 3500/-.

So go for high speed modem.

3G Phone and 3G DataCard
