mtnl 3g network is not available in entire mumbai , only selective areas , refer to mtnl website for details.

Will 3G Network be available across Mumbai?
* Presently 3G Jadoo Wireless broadband network is available in Cuffeparade, Fountain, Cooperage, City , Mazagaon, Mandvi, Worli and Dadar areas. Network is also available from Prabhadevi to Mulund on Eastern Express Highway and Prabhadevi to Airport on Western Express Highway.
The network is being upgraded every day by addition of new towers and will cover entire Mumbai circle in a phased manner.

The page at MTNL mumbai website was last updated on 11th Sept 2009. I think 3G should be available at all places in Mumbai now. I am even able to see the Dolphin 3G network on my mobile, only I am not able to select it. It says 'Your SIM card does not allow to select this network'

Regarding MTNL 3G coverage, It should be available all over Mumbai. The normal 2G card can be activated as a 3G card by paying Rs.300. Earlier it was free activation. I am using in Navi Mumbai, and the service is OK. I can connect my phone to PC, and the surfing speed also reasonable.
