I changed my plan to UL750 from Home500 on 1/9, they finally changed it to UL750 on 9/9. However my download speeds remain the same as in Home500. Is this a problem ? Will they charge me for it ? The portal doesnt seem to be counting the data usage. Please advise.http://img48.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bsnlmp6.gif Image is at http://img183.imageshack.us/my.php?image=bsnlmi7.gif

Im getting good speeds, but should i get it checked ??http://img161.imageshack.us/my.php?image=modembt3.gif

member/samv/You seem to be still in Home 500 tariff plan. ( as per speed recorded )Recheck at speedtest.net Mumbai and Brisbane servers. Check usage data at BSNL portal with 14 digit portal ID and PW. if IP is 117.xx.xx.xxfor Sept 1st to Sept 9th.

I know, as per speed recorded am under home500. But in my portal page ( old one 59.xx.xx.xx) it says its UL750.
See for yourself

Seems you are lucky ! getting 2 MBps speed in 256 Kbps plan !Check usage under Home500 for Sept 2008. If request rejected What does the summary show ? what is usage excluding NU ? with UL750 plan selected ?

My previous entries entries show home500 and count data usage. My usage excluding NU is 1.44 gb which was counted under home500 and has remained the same for the past 2 days. As you saw the data being downloaded now is not being counted !!

Sum of Usage : http://img113.imageshack.us/my.php?image=sumxz1.gif

After change of plan Diff :

My only concern is whether the data being downloaded now be counted, although it doesnt show it on portal. Bsnl is known for its idiocity.
Do i do a cease and desist of all downloads or enjoy while this luck continues. Am torn :(

Calculation 1 :
Chargeable usage 1.441 GB in 8 days 2.5/4 ( NU free )
allowed approx 600 MB.
pay for 800MB !!
Rent 500/4 = 125/=
From sept 9th h24 free
Rent 750/30 x 22= 25x22 = Rs 550/= Total rental Rs 675/=
Additional Broadband usage = Rs 600x 80 paise = .....Rs 480/=
Plus taxes at 12.5 %..................................................Rs 140/= approx
Total ================================= Rs 1295
Calculation 2 : Rent Rs 750/= full month
Tax 96/= total Rs 846/= apprx
Option for BSNL: Charge which ever is more !!! Wait for bill !

Para two ; You cannot take advantage of both schemes.

I changed my plan to UL750 from Home500 on 1/9
Say you applied for change, and d/l during Daytime excess, without waiting for confirmation.
Assume you have disconnected Home 500 on 8th Sept.
and reconnected on 9th with UL750. Billing may be proportionate.
Bsnl is known for its idiocity.

Thanks for the info. But the last time i did the same thing i wasnt charged anything. Called up customer care and asked them, apparently since am on a yearly payment plan, the first 8 days also wont be counted as home500. Anyway like you said lets wait for the bill.

one of my friend is also having the same advantage in delhi.he is using MTNL broadband. he changed his plan to unlimited plan, and still he is having 2 Mbps speed, now he is enjoying downloading, he downloads more then 10 GB a day.he first clarify from the customer care about his plan, when they say that he is in unlimited plan he starts downloading continuesly.so i suggest you to first consult to bsnl first. after you make sure that you are in unlimited plan, you can download as much as you want( don't tel them that you are getting 2 MBps speed, they may cut of your speed).have fun:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

still there is some risk especially when BSNL is involved.make sure to get some solid proofs of your plan change like screenshots, receipts etc just to be sure & safe.

@whitestar Thanks for the concern. Appreciate it. I will wait for this months bill and then use my luck to the fullest. BSNL shall pay for its incompetency  @mannThanks for the info. I already checked with customer care and they let me know that my plan has been changed. But im just being cautious. Its BSNL after all. Finally, none of you have posted anything regarding my modem SNR and attenuation levels. Please comment on it and also if i have to get my line checked. As i said i get good speeds maxed out at 215-220 kBps !
