Only thing I can assume is there is something wrong with new setup of your Teracom modem. WiFi may not be enabled. That could be the reason you are no seeing your SSID ( network name ) in wireless indicator.
Since the SSID is working and is able to spot on the laptop, try the same process I gave with WiFi adapter. Just use IP address as 192.168.1.30 this time.
We are going to try with D-Link modem because quite honestly we are fed up with BSNL modem. We also tried with Baton modem and that did not work. So D-Link works in my friend's house. So we thought he will use Baton and I will use D-Link. Hopefully D-Link will work and that solves the problem.
Currently BSNL modem works LAN and wired on both Ubuntu and windows.
