BSNL Broadband night unlimited solution

seems no need to switch off modem and restart again at 0205 AM etc. [ for free NU]Portal usage meter : reported to show chargeable data and free NU data correctly now. with meter stopping at 0200AM and 0800AM.Test in the morning. Say start at 0745AM end at 0815AM.check usage later. Screen shot/s please.Mine abcd @ dataone.in Home 250( No NU )any way will check usage portal readings, with overlapping time/s.2.Now only Download Manager to be scheduled.
 
Pradhan is right ... Even I use batch files at the end to dial the connection and disconnect it. This software just simplifies the process of doing that, and when I say simplify,I mean really simple. And as far as geeks are concerned, we like a little techi way that appeals us, which though shouldn't be that simple.
 
Manika, Auto power On and Off doesn't have a feature for dialing your connection, you need batch files for that. Also, it is a licensed software, where as auto-connect is a freeware. Yes, IDM has a dial up feature, but it too is a licensed software. You either need to buy it or go dirty and use pirated ones.

I like to stay clean, I use auto-connect. Why use IDM to dial and again use Auto power on & off to run download clients. Auto connect has it all. There are many pretex to avoid it, but a single reason to use it: It is really simple, and has it all, what all is desired.
 
Essbebe, here is what I have noticed in past month when a bug didn't disconnect internet before 8 am. Though no downloads were running at that time, but look at what happened. I was charged 42 mb, which I had downloaded in free time.

Stray incidents like that are common. I would wait for an official confirmation from bsnl.
 
1.Your IP is 59.xx.xx.xx and very rarely mistakes are noticed/reported. 2.Probably the net chargeable reading is for 4 minutes only. ( from 0800 onwards) 42 MB download posssible. in 4 or 5 minutes.3.However the previous entry seems erratic..4. Most users report that metering is Ok now. NU free d/l not shown. Except one or two reports from Kolkatta.5.Too early to say , metering is perfect now.for IP 117.xx.xx.xx @ bsnl.in users."BUG" reports welcome.
 
Hi Guys .. ! After a little experimentation I conclude that its probably true bsnl rectified its servers. Now no need of reboot tasks. But you still need disconnect task and application close task to close the torrent client, which if still downloading, can cause heavy usage if unattended.

You can never be too sure with BSNL. So I feel you should atleast disconnect and reconnect before starting downloads. Check the screenshot to understand what I am saying.

I downloaded 70 MB after 2 am. But they charged me 110 MB for the session.
 
@ Adi - True, bsnl is really clumsy when it comes to charging for night unlimited ! So, whats the harm in taking precautions when they are available at ease .... ! I was reported a little bug in version 2.5 . Tasks that are scheduled to run only once are actually deleted after running once as scheduled. But the entry is remaining, though task is deleted. Hence I am working on fixing it, wait for the next version.
