Chennai BSNL had not been showing the broadband tariff on their subportal for a while. The reason seems to be out now. The tariff plan had been updated as recently as November 2012 to show that plans below 1000 will have free calls only within BSNL network. With that missing, now it seems we need to look at the main portal, looking at which it seems all plans are now having free calls within BSNL network only. Was surprised to see an excess bill of around Rs.70 even though total units was well within expected free calls of 250. But found it was that outside BSNL calls were charged.

Did anyone know about this? Did we discuss it here? Google shows me 1-2 random websites mentioning it.

Have asked people to use mobile itself, as people were actually using the landline not to "waste" free calls, and this has a higher per minute charges then some of the prepaid tariff they use on mobiles :|

Count me in too. I logged a billing complaint through portal. A guy called me back the same day admitting the error and told me to pay the bill, the amount will be credited back in the next bill.

Seems to be an unofficial blog..

BSNL Plans

Count me in too. I logged a billing complaint through portal. A guy called me back the same day admitting the error and told me to pay the bill, the amount will be credited back in the next bill.

Admitted an error? I am reading as if its a change in plan?

I am more unhappy that they did this under the hood. But I am wondering if we can complain that we were not told etc.

Thats what, on the flip side, the pdf on chennai portal has been missing since this date. I guess they wanted to remove any indication of older rates/plans, so that people cannot question based on that.
