essbebe,When i took BSNL connection, they said i have to buy my own modem as they dont have stock. So i gave them my Airtel BB Model: Beetel 220BX. They did the initial config and it was working. However, it was allergic to torrent downloads. I also read in this forum and in the internet about BSNL blocking Torrent downloads. I could not entirely agree with it because... the modem became unstable everytime i was doing a torrernt download. It would not allow me to access 192.168.1.1. it will be slow and taking ever to get to modem/router page. It BSNL is blocking torrent connections, i should atleast be able to access the modem. I could not.I had my dad's BSNL modem model - UT300R2U (He was on BSNL before we swtiched to Airtel). I just replaced the beetel modem with this one changing the user name and password to mine (I did not change any other setting).Yes Both the modems were configued for PPPoE. I dont understand what you refer to always on. Summary:Airtel Beetel 220BX modem - froze for torrent downloads. other activities never had any issueBSNL UT300R2U modem - works fine for all activities including torrents.

BSNL UT300R2U modem - works fine for all activities
including torrents.

Will you check the DEVICE Info of both Modems ?
Most likely will show same hardware board and
menu pages will be similar.

Yes Both the modems were configued for PPPoE.
I dont understand what you refer to always on.

In WAN page you can select "Bridged" Or "PPPoE"
Mode (A)
If PPPoE is selected you get additional menu to enter ID/PW, .
As soon as system starts, modem also connects automatically
to Internet. This is what I meant by "Always On " mode.
Mode (B)
If "Bridged" is selected you have to enter ID/PW in a "DIALER"
window ( external to the modem ) to connect.
If connection is lost, again you may have to
reconnect.
Many users/newcomers mean this by "PPPoE"

which mode (A) or (B). is used by you?

PS: Check under Management tr_069 client is enabled
in Beetel 220BX ( from Airtel ). If so disable it.

- Same Board ID, however different firmware versions

- Although the menu options look similar, both the modems some of the options the other has. UT* has DMZ host and the IP is blank under it. 220BX also has same blank IP address under DMZ Host. 22BX has two addional options which the UT* does not have. But they are blank as well.

- Thanks for explaining. Mine is A

220BX does not have this option at all. in UT* this is Enabled and this modem works fine.

For 220BX confirm device info of your modem.
Board ID: 96338L-2M-8M
Software Version: 3.12L.01.A2pB023k.d20k_rc2
Bootloader (CFE) Version: 1.0.37-0.7

UT300R2U:
.Bsnl supplied units don't have Virtual server/Port triggering options,
which normally user/s prefer for portforwarding torrent downloads.

Tr_069 client is enabled by Airtel, for remote control of modem and to
upgradeFW etc. If enabled , according to time interval selected ISP can
access your modem ONLINE.
Since the Connection is by BSNL enabled/disabled may or may
not have effect on overall performance.

After BSNL UT300R2U modem died, i had to use my airtel Beetel 220BX with my current BSNL Broadband. After some patient testing, I set my torrent client to work with this modem without freezing it. The reason i suspect, is Beetel 220BX is unable to handle the high number of connections my Torrent client was opening.I reduced the max connections to 60 and disabled DHT. These are the only two changes i performed and viola, no more modem freezing now.Torrent downloads are working with the Beetel 220BX model in BSNL Broadband. I remember reading about others having similar issues. Hope my post helps.

The very same modem (220BX provided by Airtel) used to freeze while downloading torrents on bsnl's network. Switched to 110 TC1.

Please Check Status Device info and check snr/attn etc.etc ?

Post any error crc etc ?

I'll have to find it and connect it. Will have the screenshots up by evening.
