If u downloaded 15GB, then ur 256 Kbps connexn must be working fine. In April I downloaded 15 GB. Mostly softwares, thru eMule and Bittorrent. This month I have downloaded only 9GB and running out of ideas abt. what to download. I need some ideas guys on what to download, apart from songs.

using a 256kbps connection, it is possible to d/load roughly 1.5mb per minute or 90mb per hour. keeping it more realistic and using a combination of the gnutella network, emule, bittorrents, http & ftp d/loads it is easy to d/load more than 2gb per day. i end up with at least 1.8gb on bad days..... :D Pupudada

Emule is like other P2P softwares. But I like it better becos it has no spyware embedded and the connections are really fast and the interface nice. You can download it frm http://www.emule-project.net/home/perl/general.cgi?l=1 . Once u install, u can search using keywords and select the download judiciously by viewing the number of users having it and number of users having the whole file.

Bittorrent is also good. I have started using it very recently. However, not all the links have good download speeds. Maybe an experienced user can enlighten me and others abt it.

Edonkey is also P2P software like emule, I guess but has great downloads too. The only problem is that the free version bundles spyware. Emule connects to the servers faster than edonkey and the interface is better. I think, as pupudada says, its best to use a variety of P2P and other s/w to keep the BSNL connection busy thru out the day, till 30th June, that is.

hey just use the `global' search option of emule to search for whatever you want and on the results you get, select the one you want and doublt click on it... emule will take care fo the rest... just see to it that the (x%) in the search field is not 0 or you enf up trying to d/load an incomplete file... :D Pupudada

We r a bandwidth deprived nation and caps on data transfer is inevitable. Its like the rationing system - you want more, buy goods at a higher cost frm elsewhere. You want it cheaper, you get in limited quantities. Gradually the limits would be raised and we'd begin to see providers offering unlimited transfers. After all, not long ago, dialup connections used to come at Rs.10000-15000. We've come a long way from that.
