@varkey you are seriously considering starting a lco /isp setup? Those onu are testing for something in sight...

Hey guys is it worth getting into isp buisness in a small town? My friend is really interested in it but asked me for an opinion:)

Unless he doesn't have a competitor like Jio, he can go for it.
Please do a user survey and estimates before stsrting. Also it's best to go for franchisee model rather than to invest on your own backbone.

Alright, it will be a franchise model only.

What kind of % are usually offered to lco by a company under franchise model? And all the infrastructure costs are to borne by lco?

Big Isps like BSNL,Railtel offers anywhere between 30 to 50% profit share usually it is either 30 or 40%.
Smaller Regional isps offer 30 to 60% profit share for the LCO.
I have connection from such small isp named Limras Eronet which offers my Lco 50% revenue share. The revenue share is determined by various factors like location, number of connections, competition in the particular area etc.
Lco has to invest on a OLT and ofc cable infrastructure.
