Buying a pre-assembled desktop makes sense now

Buying a desktop from companies like HP, Dell makes sense now. Now when I don't keep up with all the latest product launches and stuff, it feels so hard and time consuming to build my own pc. And the biggest con for me now I feel is to self diagnose and follow up with different companies for warranty/repair.

Anyone else who have lost interest in 'technology stuff' and feels like pay extra for extended warranty and just be done with it.

so if You have time in Your hand building computer is best
but if You need some thing that works with out much research than prebuilt PC is fine personally I would not go for HP

getting pc repaired incase of any problem is a major issue as there is no easy way to be certain about which part is causing the problem. With pre-built pc you just have to contact the company and let them take care of it.

I am in the same boat @Smh. Years ago, I was all for self built PCs, not anymore. I'd rather buy a complete packaged product. I don't game, so I'm not interested in the GPU part.

If you know a good assembler that is also good option. I have always got rigs custom built. They should give a years warranty & handle the 2 & 3 year warranty for the ssd/hdd, mobo etc. So that saves you the donkey work of running around. This should be cost effective plus you get the type of rig you want.

And this is why we should have a backup PC or laptop with everything important backed up on cloud. I'd still prefer an assembled PC than a pre-built. However, I do understand the ordeal when we're not able to find which part isn't working correctly.

No one recommending Linus' Secret shopper series? Well the customer support part won't be the same in every region, but the rest of it is teaches quite a lot about prebuilts.

Do they offer full warranty and free service and does it get void if you say add something to the PC?

Also these repair guys may try to really fleece you. Few months ago in Chennai corona time I had some issue with my 8yr old PC which was most likely due to PSU. Called someone and gave the PC. He said need to replace the CPU too though that very rarely gets fried, and quoted 2600rs for a Sandy bridge pentium. I was confused for a bit because I didn't have much experience installing CPU. Unfortunately mother okayed it in talks and it came with the chepest 550rs zebronics PSU which they were selling for 900. Thankfully they took back the PSU and I didn't pay them service charge so it was only 1000rs down the drain against if I would have bought CPU from elsewhere. In Delhi though the repair shops would at least give the items near Nehru Place price.

So overall I think you should get a system with dust filters so you don't have to clean it or get it cleaned, get it checked for 200-300rs if it faults and replace the parts under warranty or buy on your own.

If you invest in good quality products and you don't have a lot of moisture issues, the parts work fine. My PC gets so damn dusty, I can't explain. Even the PSU gets all choked up, but since I got the best parts some 7 years ago, everything is working just fine. Just had one issue which is the WiFi adapter failed and it corrupted the Windows installation. Besides that no hardware failure. Thankfully.

For me it has always been the motherboard failure. But there is no way to be sure except buying a new one and hoping your guess was right. Just for getting it checked by a trusted repair person who won't scam will cost ₹500.

Even if something is under warranty, doing RMA becomes a hassle. With pre-bulit pc you can get doorstop repair service and have to deal with a single repair person/service.

For me personally door step service warranty is a much better option as it will save me a lot of headache and time.
