Hello guys. I am from Kolkata(Kidderpore area)I had bought 2 set top boxes from my local cable operator(National Cable) which was from Galaxzee. Now with their poor service, i opted to change my cable operator(Hamara Armaan) . When i asked the new operator to use 2 old STBs that i have purchased previously, they told me that I have to buy a new STB from them. They informed me that those old stbs are operator-tied and no new connection from a different operator can be activated in them.So basically they tell to junk those stbs, which i have purchased. I cant even exchange them or transfer to other relatives. Is it true.? Do i have any option to use those STBs with a new operator? Are they taking me for a ride?:madness:Plz help as the new operator wants me to book a new STB. I want to learn about my options.

you should be able to sell it to another customer who is going for that company's service?

well not really. it depends upon the operator... i am not sure if zee dish tv would give me a connection if i buy the STB or the Dish from someone else. i should be able to use the same hardware if i am going to use the service from the same company.but you really cannot force them to allow you to use the equipment purchased from a third party.

Sobasically thisholds true: Change cable operator = Buy a New STB from them. So where is the customer benefits they gloat about in ads?
