Hello friends, i am planning to change my internet connection from sify to dataone. anyone please help me in configuring router, how to create connections,etc... i have bought D-Link GLB-502T Adsl Router.suggestions are welcome:whistle:

My friend has bought the same router recently. I found it very difficult to configure in comparison to other router like DSL 502T and UT 300 R2U.But this is not the general opinion of people on this forum. One problem that I have faced is that port forwarding and other advanced settings get washed away each time the router is rebooted. Any ideas?

You first have to save settings before rebooting only then u won't lose the custom settings.

Ahem, would you like to enlighten me on how to 'save' settings? Do you mean clicking on that blue colored button that has 'save' written on it? If yes, then THANKS!

If no, then forgive my sarcasm, and do tell me how to save the settings.

@Apoorv Khatreja
Have you tried PortForward.com - Free Help Setting up Your Router or Firewall ?
The important point seems to be : To change your Dynamic IP to a static one. ( the program PF does it in the beginning)
Full instructions are available with screen shots. You have to create some rule/s in the end and then save. Hope the program/s Port/s you are interested in, are listed.
Para two : I could easily configure my Beetel 220BX for my Airtel BB for Program ECHOLINK. ( For worldwide Amateur Radio Operator's contact/s known as "HAM RADIO")There was no need for a static IP address.
TCP 5200 UDP 5198 UDP5199.
I have not tried in SmartAX MT882 Dataone connection. I will try shortly for a friend.

so vissu, have you managed to setup ur modem?? if not, then this is the CORRECT METHOD

You can configure this GLB-502T for BSNL broadband by doing the following steps:-

Step 1 : Log into the web configuration of the router by typing the IP address http://192.168.1.1 in the address bar. A prompt for user name and password should appear. Type 'admin' as username and password both and click on login.

Step 2 : Click on setup and then New Connection tab. Configure the modem as per the values given below:

1. Give any name is the 'Name' option.

2. Select Type as PPPoE.

3. username = Which your ISP has provided you.
password = Which your ISP has provided you.

4. VPI = 0
VCI = 35

Rest all would be default settings. Click on Apply and OK.

Step 3 : To save settings properly on the router, click on 'Tools' and 'System Commands' and then click on 'Save All'. Once settings are saved we need to reboot router so click on 'Restart' tab just below to 'Save All' tab and let the router reboot.
