You make it sound like it's stupid threshold notification that others are offering. I'm not aware of anyone else offering proactive notifications.
Also, what are you gonna do after you receive an email "hey, your website is under attack, we are mitigating it because that's why you're paying us"? Right now it's listed in the summary email and on dashboard.
 
You do understand the when a site is under attack the customer support is clueless on what's going on. This way they know what's going on and handle customer better.
 
I don't think you know what Cloudflare's primary product is, do you?
What even is the point of that post?

Edit: also just for the record, you absolutely cannot do anything whatsoever when you're under attack unless you've invested hundreds of millions of dollar in your attack mitigation infrastructure and have hundreds of millions of dollar lying around.
