@debashish
both me and my friend have got a 256kbps and a 2mbps connection respectively,and during the last 2 days neither of us have crossed the 2-9 kB/s limit.
true, it depends on congestion on your WAN & your locality too thats what i guess. where you are located by the way.
see what i got from the ISP:-
Dear Customer,In continuation with our regular updates, we want to inform you that we are working on highest priority to restore capacity for you. Over last 24 hours, we have made significant progress on measures for interim relief, we have spoken with multiple global carriers and identified where the capacity is available. The identified restoration paths are in implementation to restore a substantial portion which was lost across Atlantic and disrupted traffic from India to USA east coast and Europe. This will help in having better throughputs but latency may still be affected. Normalcy will return when SMW4 cable system is restored. We want to inform you that we have been able to augment additional capacity on the pacific route from Singapore to USA. We will start routing traffic on this additional capacity starting wee hours in the morning. We will continue to monitor the impact of this during the peak load hours tommorrow. We expect that you will start observing improved QoS after this activity which would further get enhanced in next 24 to 48 hours as we add more capacity. Normalcy will return when SMW4 cable system is restored. We will keep you regularly updated on the progress. We would like to re-assure you that we are putting all possible efforts to minimize the impact at the earliest by restoring SMW 4. In this regard, the vessel Raymond Croze has set sail for Catania Depot to load spares for the repair operation. It has applied for territorial permit and is awaiting approval. It is anticipated that the vessel will arrive at the cable repair ground and commence the repair operation around 6th February 2008. We regret the inconvenience caused due to the failure and we request you to kindly bear with us. Best Regards
