Almost all routers under Rs. 1200 will have the following specs,
1. 100Mbps ethernet ports
2. WiFi N - 2.4GHz
3. 32MB RAM and 4 MB flash, doesn't support latest OpenWRT.
AFAIK TP-Linkarcher C6 is the cheapest router which suits your requirements.
@shashankb I'm using the D-Link DIR 615 right now. It is only 2.4 ghz, but on my iPhone 10 and iPhone 11 I easily get 70 mbps+ speed. Keep in mind though, that it has 100 mbps ports. My laptop also gets around 90 mbps easily over WiFi. However, my cheap M10s gets only 40 mbps on the best days.
I haven't tried it. Even if it does run, I woukd suggest that you shell out a bit more and get an ACrouter. Routers are anyways usually upgraded after 4-5 years so why not future-proof your setup?
@shashankb I have been window shopping routers since the past few days. You can search "openwrt router" on Amazon and a few will show up. TP-LinkC6, A7, C7 and Netgear R6220 are some of the cheapest but above the budget limit you have.
For the strict requirement you have, the TP-Link TL-WR902AC and TL-MR3020 are the closest. And also the TL-WR841N.
Had NEXX WT3020. Small package and great coverage. Worked well for 3-4 years. Bought it for less than 1k. Not sure if this model is still available.
Also you need to be careful about the Version of the router. Not all version can be imaged. Check the compatibility matrix before purchase.
Best bet is to buy used routers on olx like websites. You can get compatible ones for 500-800 if you bargain.
