I'm actually a student will finish my BCA and start preparing for CCNA, microtik courses during masters since i wanna get into networking... so it feels good to get some hands-on hardware
was even looking for used Ciscorouters to practice and learn
But I've seen people using Cisco 4000 series and even ubiquiti dream machine (their setup is 30k-35k+) on this forum.
Even people imported expensive stuff from alibaba (GPON sfp to replace ISP onu)
Yeah those who actually need it will buy. For me, I just need something to acquire less space, has enough processing power required for routing and host simple scripts and other things if required. Openwrt on RPi does the things I need, plus other routers as access points.
What are you using rn? Xc220-g3v?
Do raspberry routers makes sense? Like as a primary router how reliable it is... since at the end it has to operate 24x7 so heating issues and other cons
Back to Digisol, boots much quicker. I have been using the RPi for a long time as primary router now. Works well for me. Although I would like to move to x86 based Openwrt, but not yet.
