I mean I would be happy to be wrong about this. But government is pretty much set on this. And asking the oil companies to setup logistics for storage, delivery etc. of E0/E5 fuel seems like a bit too much for the entire country. And it seems improbable that they would do it for metro cities. From what I have been reading, government originally had plans to get E20 to market in around five years’ time from now, but they preponed the rollout and automakers just did not roll out E20 compliant vehicles in time.
What I do not get about this is that even private companies are not selling E0 fuel. There seems to be a clear incentive to sell E0/E5 fuel in the market for these players. People are already spending an insanely inflated price for petrol, and they probably would not mind spending a bit more for ethanol free petrol. It’s like there is pressure from the government on them to buy and mix ethanol with their own fuel supply.
