E20: Ethanol Blending in Petrol
I mean I would be happy to be wrong about this. But government is pretty much set on this. And asking the oil companies to setup logistics for storage, delivery etc. of E0/E5 fuel seems like a bit too much for the entire country. And it seems improbable that they would do it for metro cities. From what I have been reading, government originally had plans to get E20 to market in around five years’ time from now, but they preponed the rollout and automakers just did not roll out E20 compliant vehicles in time.
What I do not get about this is that even private companies are not selling E0 fuel. There seems to be a clear incentive to sell E0/E5 fuel in the market for these players. People are already spending an insanely inflated price for petrol, and they probably would not mind spending a bit more for ethanol free petrol. It’s like there is pressure from the government on them to buy and mix ethanol with their own fuel supply.

Also it feels to me as rightly pointed by @87056 that a push for EV is being made hastily so. But India doesn't have many EV charging stations, even the ones I saw in HP petrol pump were running on diesel generators so much for sustainability. Moreover EV is pricey, buying a car is a very long term game and many Indians will not switch unless their vehicle is damaged purposely. Many factors are into play but I hope SC panel will atleast listen to the plea
Yes, every small win counts. These rich and corrupted people think they are above law, well hope so we get E0 available soon. EV is still a paralyzed piece of dream untill we get good EV charging stations in sufficient numbers all over India.
so my car mileage has dropped drastically from 11 kmpl to 7 kmpl in city driving conditions and sometimes even 5 kmpl. its 2015 i20.
my scooter (2019 model) mileage has dropped from 42 kmpl to 30 kmpl in city driving.
I had to spend more money on petrol.
Moreover, my activa which is e20 compatible model is also having drop in mileage when i put regular petrol (from 55 kmpl to 40 kmpl). If i put power petrol then mileage somehow remains above 45 kmpl
Edit: I do regular service of all my vehicles on time and sometime even before time)

In my 2022 baleno, I didn't notice any drastic difference in mileage. Earlier it was around 16Kmpl and now it hovers around 15.5 with similar driving style. Mine is a AMT version. I think the drop in mileage could also be due to the increase in traffic congestion nowadays due to the rain.This is on regular petrol from HP/Indian Oil.
@Rickysin You can also consider getting a aftermarket CNG kit installed since your car is 10 years old now. Yeah filling CNG is a bit of a hassle but you will save a lot of money on petrol.

I don’t like cng… it takes a toll on engine with performance drops.
Seems like maruti cars have no effect of e20. Rest hyundai and skoda/vw are straight hit with the issue.
And i forgot to say that if i don’t use my car for like 1 week then on starting it makes high noises. Definitely ethanol effect. A year back it was not an issue.

I will try power100 or xp100 petrol and see if mileage improves or not. Though i highly doubt and high octane is only meant for sports cars
