As communicated earlier, Airtel has started the process of migrating its Broadband Customers - these upgrades are happening in a phased manner and are likely to get completed by June end(as shared in the press release in March). There is a possibility of some spill over into early July.
Further, all IPTV customers are very much a part of the upgrade plan. We have already upgraded 256/384Kbps IPTV customers to 512Kbps. Remaining(upto 1Mbps plan speeds) would be upgraded as per the plan.
Given below are the details asked for by you on existing/new Speeds and Fair Usage Policy limits.
Original Plan: 256 Kbps Unlimited
New Speed: 512 Kbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: None
New Fair Usage Policy: 10 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: NA
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 256 Kbps
Original Plan: 512kbps Unlimited
New Speed: 1Mbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: 100 GB
New Fair Usage Policy: 25 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: 256 Kbps
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 512 Kbps
Thus, where a customer would have earlier got a reduced speed of 256 Kbps after consumption of 100 GB, now he/she will get a minimum of 512 Kbps and 1 Mbps for the first 25 GB.
Original Plan: 1 Mbps Unlimited
New Speed: 2 Mbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: 100 GB
New Fair Usage Policy: 30 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: 512 Kbps
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 1 Mbps
Thus, where a customer would have earlier got a reduced speed of 512 Kbps after consumption of 100 GB, now he/she will get a minimum of 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps for the first 30 GB.
In all the cases, the customer gets an advantage of higher speeds for intial GBs and post that the continuous base speed.
This is a great response. Does not sound that evilish afterall.
The problems are however several. The plans hosted on airtel.in website are pretty contradictory.
Most plans are stated with Fair Usage Policy limits of 15-25GB. with speeds going down to 256kbps.
I have asked for clarifications. Let's hope I get a quicker reply this time around.
Here is my response:
Thanks a lot. This is the best response I have received in a long time from Airtel to my queries. All the other responses have been frustrating.
The way you have presented the new plans, they do not look that bad at all.
Speeds are doubled. There is a crappier FUP limit. But the user lands on the original speed. This I believe is a good decision.
My only confusion right now is the plans mentioned on Airtel.in website.
Most of the plans mentioned states that whatever the FUP limit applies, the speed after touching the limit is 256kbps for all plans (256kbps, 512kbps, 1mbps).
Take this PDF file for example:
http://airtel.in/applications/xm/BroadBandTraiPdf/Delhi.pdf
This is for the Delhi based broadband plans.
If you check it out... The limits are 256kbps on ALL the plans.
Can you clarify what exactly is going on?
In other words, the details specified below... Are these applicable to ALL UNLIMITED BROADBAND USERS INCLUDING IPTV USERS ON AIRTEL BROADBAND?
Because there is too much confusion if we see the plans mentioned at different places on Airtel.in website.
Also go through the PDF file for the Airtel IPTV plans... It is very confusing.
http://www.airtel.in/IP-TV/images/Final%20TRAI-Format-C-for-NCR-&-Delhi-for-June-10.pdf
Personally, I had like to get another reply from you about the two combo IPTV plans you have for us... This PDF file is very confusing.

If you can clarify this, I can decide on whether to migrate to this package. The PDF file above states that if I migrate to this new plan, I would end up with 256kbps after I cross the FUP limit. Contradictory to what you have mentioned below.
