Dude this does not mention 1mbps Unlimited plan....Though Fair Usage Policy Limit certainly has changed :wall::wall::impissed::impissed:

i have sent a reply asking about 1mbps details and the unclear details on the other two plans. since it is past 5 now. i doubt i would get any response today.

As communicated earlier, Airtel has started the process of migrating its Broadband Customers - these upgrades are happening in a phased manner and are likely to get completed by June end(as shared in the press release in March). There is a possibility of some spill over into early July.

Further, all IPTV customers are very much a part of the upgrade plan. We have already upgraded 256/384Kbps IPTV customers to 512Kbps. Remaining(upto 1Mbps plan speeds) would be upgraded as per the plan.

Given below are the details asked for by you on existing/new Speeds and Fair Usage Policy limits.

Original Plan: 256 Kbps Unlimited
New Speed: 512 Kbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: None
New Fair Usage Policy: 10 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: NA
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 256 Kbps

Original Plan: 512kbps Unlimited
New Speed: 1Mbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: 100 GB
New Fair Usage Policy: 25 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: 256 Kbps
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 512 Kbps

Thus, where a customer would have earlier got a reduced speed of 256 Kbps after consumption of 100 GB, now he/she will get a minimum of 512 Kbps and 1 Mbps for the first 25 GB.

Original Plan: 1 Mbps Unlimited
New Speed: 2 Mbps Unlimited
Old Fair Usage Policy: 100 GB
New Fair Usage Policy: 30 GB
Speed downgrade on original plan: 512 Kbps
Speed downgrade on upgraded plan: 1 Mbps

Thus, where a customer would have earlier got a reduced speed of 512 Kbps after consumption of 100 GB, now he/she will get a minimum of 1 Mbps and 2 Mbps for the first 30 GB.

In all the cases, the customer gets an advantage of higher speeds for intial GBs and post that the continuous base speed.

This is a great response. Does not sound that evilish afterall.

The problems are however several. The plans hosted on airtel.in website are pretty contradictory.

Most plans are stated with Fair Usage Policy limits of 15-25GB. with speeds going down to 256kbps.

I have asked for clarifications. Let's hope I get a quicker reply this time around.

Here is my response:

Thanks a lot. This is the best response I have received in a long time from Airtel to my queries. All the other responses have been frustrating.

The way you have presented the new plans, they do not look that bad at all.

Speeds are doubled. There is a crappier FUP limit. But the user lands on the original speed. This I believe is a good decision.

My only confusion right now is the plans mentioned on Airtel.in website.

Most of the plans mentioned states that whatever the FUP limit applies, the speed after touching the limit is 256kbps for all plans (256kbps, 512kbps, 1mbps).

Take this PDF file for example: http://airtel.in/applications/xm/BroadBandTraiPdf/Delhi.pdf

This is for the Delhi based broadband plans.

If you check it out... The limits are 256kbps on ALL the plans.

Can you clarify what exactly is going on?

In other words, the details specified below... Are these applicable to ALL UNLIMITED BROADBAND USERS INCLUDING IPTV USERS ON AIRTEL BROADBAND?

Because there is too much confusion if we see the plans mentioned at different places on Airtel.in website.

Also go through the PDF file for the Airtel IPTV plans... It is very confusing.

http://www.airtel.in/IP-TV/images/Final%20TRAI-Format-C-for-NCR-&-Delhi-for-June-10.pdf

Personally, I had like to get another reply from you about the two combo IPTV plans you have for us... This PDF file is very confusing.

Magic 999

Speed:
FUP Limit:
Speed after FUP:

Magic 1299

Speed:
FUP Limit:
Speed after FUP:

If you can clarify this, I can decide on whether to migrate to this package. The PDF file above states that if I migrate to this new plan, I would end up with 256kbps after I cross the FUP limit. Contradictory to what you have mentioned below.

Hmm.. Lets hope the FUPd speeds on broadband plans also falls back to the original speed and not 256kbps :|

if this email indeed states the truth, i seriously hope airtel fixes the PDF files that are hosted on their site connected to package pages. coz those are very contradictory in nature.

@Sushubh. if the speed is downgraded permanently to 256 kbps/512 kbps on Magic 1299 after crossing 25 GB FUP for the whole month it is a very bad plan.

But, if that downgrade in speed is limited only during daytime, then it's not that bad of a deal. (atleast for me)

If the speed downgrade also applies for night time, I might have effed up BIG time in migrating to 1299.

I guess that's what happens when one acts hastily.

So, basically airtel is telling all the heavy downloaders like me that I am not welcome at Airtel and I should migrate to MTNL which has no FUP.

I guess I will have to do that if this downgrade BS applies during night-time as well.... :wall:

i do not see any mention of different speeds during day and night time. his email simply stated... if you are on x speed plan right now. you would be migrated to 2x plan. there would be a y limit on the new plan. after you cross the y limit, you fall back to x speeds. the benefit is that originally you fell down to x/2 speeds after the FUP. FUPs were better before. They suck now.

yeah. I am in big doo dah due to this.I will drink up 25 GB in a matter of days. After that it's going to be 256 kbps for the whole month!oh man! I am so screwed.

his post also does not clarify if airtel iptv would get a 2mbps ul plan at around 1899 (the 1mbps ul plan earlier).

looks like airtel has decided to discontinue that plan.

so for me... i am either stuck paying 1899 plus taxes for 1mbps full day (hopefully with 100GB limit or no limit as it seems to be applicable right now).

or i switch to 1299 plan that gives me 1mbps for a couple of hours/days before i get back to 512kbps.

i am staying on 1899 plan till i find out the FUP limitations on this account. i really do not want to go back to 512kbps ever again.

of course. if i am thrown to 512kbps on my current plan (it would be hard to find the FUP coz my plan does not start from 1st of the month). i would have to take a decision.

i have no choices though. spectranet is offered by the cable guy in my building. BSNL? i had like to stay away from. hayai? nowhere in sight. :D

pudu123 i would suggest writing an email to all airtel contacts you have asking for clarifications on the iptv 1299 plan.

i have asked for the same. let's see what replies we both get.
