Dear all,I bought a Sony LCD 26S550A in february 2010. every thing went well till 18/5/111. in may 2011 it developed a problem, which service center guys called "Ghost image". ok they rectified it and charged me 727/- for it2. Again on 29/9/11, the same problem occur again, again I paid 727/- for it3. Now it was like hell to know that on 5/11/11, it was infected with the same problem. I strongly talked with service center people and they repair it for free.4. Now about 3-4 days ago, this piece of S**t has developed another problem in which the left part of lcd is totally dark, gradually brightening on right side (on full brightness setting).now they are asking for 8000/- to repair it, because screen panel need to be replaced.dont know what to do?i want some mail ids of top sony officials, at least they should know abt their faulty products. I have all the job sheets with me.

so the tv is less then three years old. i thought they came with a 3/5 years warranty? this is one of the many reasons i do not like LCD TVs. you need to take an AMC for them continuously for situations like these and they do not have a very long life :\

that's another problem. Sony is not known to be a consumer oriented company in india. i mean it's not like we have heard stories about them responding to consumer complaints. you can try your luck sending mails or posting on their facebook/twitter accounts. but the end result is going to be disappointing. what i am amused about is the warranty. LCDs usually have a pretty decent warranty. 3 years should be there at least. :\ i guess i am wrong.

no, it came with a warranty of 1 yr only,
Sony cameras come with 3 yr warranty.

--ooh that sucks. i think Hitachi we bought for my brother had an AMC option. not sure for how long they offer it though considering the limited life of the display panel.i guess i would stick with my current plan of not buying an LCD/LED TV looking at how expensive they are and how likely they are likely to fail after a year or two of ownership :\

Companies are cutting all corners to keep costs as low as possible for all consumer electronics. IMO this serve them two purposes1. They can entice buyers with the lower costs 2. Electronics stuff now has shorter life giving them repeat customers. When you buy Sony you pay too much for the brand and I do not like build quality of LG & Samsung so I prefer to avoid all three of these. #justsaying
