My two cents on the Fiat and TATA partnership (I own a TATA Indigo): TATA as such have difficulties in handling their own cars. Give them a small technical problem in your TATA car and they take ages just to identify the problem, let alone fix it. How are they to going to handle the Fiat cars? This was my thought back in 2005 when the agreement was signed between TATA and Fiat & the problem would be still there for Fiat owners.Fiat Sales have suffered a lot because of this lack of proper service facilities!

heh. i have seen tata guys AND fiat guys struggle with technical problems in my linea.

i am just hoping that i might finally have a fiat exclusive service center here in gurgaon.

i do not like going to tata service stations.

the good thing is that i have to go there once a year. fiat linea has a 15k/1year service schedule. that works well for me.

----------

i have probably talked about it a lot in the past. but the first six months of ownership were painful because of the flaws that kept on appearing from nowhere.

Gave my car for fourth service today. Found out that Fiat is offering a kit to improve the ground clearance of the first generation model. Low ground clearance on this edition means that it hits literally every speed-breaker or bad patch on the road out there. Problem? They are charging around 15000 for it. I am supposed to pay 15K for a problem that they did not realize before launching the model in the market. Incidentally they increased the ground clearance on the second generation model that was launched in the market last year.

So my four year old Linea is finally asking for some heavy repairs. Gear shifting has been a painful experience for the last couple of weeks. Turns out Clutch Plate needs replacement.
The puncture in the front time apparently damaged the front shockers as well. Or maybe it was just plain wear and tear. They need replacement too.
Apart from them, small things here and there which Tata Service Center guys never bothered to tell me. This time I went to Kashyap Fiat in Noida. Total expense comes to around Rs. 13K.

I have read people appreciating the Linnea's drivability but in the test drive I found seats really uncomfortable.
I liked the steering control but engine was not as peppy as on some of the other sedans (I drove T-Jet Petrol).
Whats your opinion?

Seats are not comfortable. Especially for someone like me with a large body structure. I am guessing there is no easy solution for this. No idea if they improved the seats in the second generation model.
Diesel engine unit is the same one that powers Swift/Dzire/Indica/Indigo/etc/etc. So yes, it is not powerful enough for the size of this car in traffic. No issues on the highway. It cruises comfortably. It's a turbo engine so the real power kicks in after 2200rpm. I have not driven the petrol engine so no idea about it. :D
I have gotten used to this car. Cost of running is I believe cheaper than Swift Diesel in my experience. But then I have just driven it 30000KM in slightly over four years. Resale value is not very good. An online calculator gave me a valuation of 2.8 lakhs.
One thing I noticed personally. I never used to get so tired after a long drive in Swift. Linea? I am basically exhausted. Not sure if it is because of the seats or my age or basically the pain of driving around a sedan powered with a hatchback engine.
Though back seats are a lot more comfortable so I guess it is a decent purchase for people who have drivers. This car is not fun to drive.
