Azimuth will come to around 260 degrees which is near west. Elevation will be around 13 degrees and only problem is that we should not have big building on that side.

Just calculated the Az & El for Hyderabad for Hotbird 6:

Az = 262.2279 & El = 15.0998. 15 degrees elevation is hardly anything! The dish will be only seeing an adjacent building blocking its vision to the satellite!!

If let us say a 16 ft dish can receive it, it should be placed on a very tall building. The dish again has to be mounted on a ten feet high pedestal as the diameter of the dish is 16 feet and it is almost horizontal.

This is for Hyderabad. GOK about Chennai and even deeper south - Madurai!!

We don't need tall building but only we need to make sure that we can see the setting sun in the evening. Thereby making sure that we can go down upto 1 degree. GOK means?

I said tall building because there will be no other obstruction for the vision of the dish!
Can you see sun setting at the horizon from your rooftop in Chennai?

That was the reason for starting that thread. You can see one member telling that he had received Hotbird. Then few others came and said they have received them. I can see the setting Sun during Equonioxe. So it can be received if I had the right dish.

But My main menu is showing only two sub options under the installation menu.1. Insallation2. Upgrade software Due to this I am not able to add any new FTA channels from other DTH/satellites. Till now my smart card is not activated and I am able to see some of the FTA channels provided by SUN DTH only. Can anyone tell me how to activate those locked menu items or adding channels manually?

Go inside the Installions menu. If your stbs been upgraded then you will see grayed options.
