I do not think Tata Sky will add any fta tv or music channels in the foreseeable future. I will appreciate any feedback on DD direct +, cost, quality, preferred makes of stb etc. Unfortunately there is no forum for dd direct.

I have also been looking for feedback on DD Direct - your post reminded me! I am starting a seperate thread in this forum on it

Hi guys...I just want to ask all of u, Has any one tried to use 2 dish. One on insat 4a and another on insat 4b.Both connected through a DIsaqe. This is possible in sky digital satellite service. We were able to add 3 dishes and were able to see FTA satellite channels. The common things that i saw between sky and Tata Sky is that....1) Both uses same NDS technology.2) Both have same remote..there is not even a single change in the remote structure or the remote buttons.3) Both the STB box menus are absolutely same. not even one single change except in sky we connect telephone line to the STB that menu is not there in TATA sky.4) The entire EPG system is also same...Same menu, same remainder, same week shedule.5) If you are familiar with TATA sky it is as good as navigating in SKY also.6) TATA sky and SKY have same technology of paring there DIgicard and Digicom. For sky they say it as DigiboxThe thing is you need to put 2 dishs in SKY receiver using the disaqe i think this should also be same in TATA sky.But i am sure in SKy we can add FTA channels using ADD channel menu. Not only that if you connect a TV antenna in UK those local channels will also be taken up by the sky STB because of DTT.So some one has to try and see if TATA sky is taking other channels....

It is DiSEqC (DiSEqC - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia). Most of STB used in Europe/MiddleEast do support the DiSEqC switch, but really need to check for our Tata Sky STB (I believe it will support, because DiSEqC support is like mandatory criteria for all STB's)
Also need to check whether DiSEqC switches are available in India

Thanks Vasanth and Kedar. Quite interesting. Sky UK is giving away free stb for new customers and charges 99 pound Sterling for a stb with built in recorder. We must pursue this.

Tata Sky started with bang but now its becoming useless and not worth the money it asks for. last 2-3months i have hardly seen any1 boasting tatasky.
