Frequent Disconnection on Reliance Jio Airfiber

So opted for jio airfiber
Best is to keep restarting the modem like 2 times a day
Things work better after that getting 25-30 upload and download speed
And google pings of 20-25 ms

The issue is charging 6/12 months advance which is non-refundable even if they fail to provide service. For first 30 days refund should be allowed for unused period like insurance lookout period.
or provide a monthly option with refundable security deposit.

Perhaps they anticipated these issues. And deliberately decided to off-load their losses to consumers by forcing long term non-refundable plans.

I fixed my connection myself after initial problems same as you guys. I relocated (reinstalled) the ODU to point to a different tower in my area. We can login to the ODU with ipv6 (they have setup GRE tunnel between IDU and ODU), there is a manual in the box stating the login method. Used my JIO5G connection on mobile and with lot of trial and error found a place where it stays connected to a better tower (using PCI). Their major problem is congested towers and lower signal quality. My connection is mostly stable, no call drops, no buffering, have 100mbps up/down. there are packet drops to the tune of 3-5%, sometimes more, but not causing a problem duing usage. Ping to cloudflare DNS is less than 25ms. The router is crap, have to reset it frequently. btw, I still have a complaint open for a month now for them to fix the frequent disconnections.

@k14prasad mind telling how you got into the ODU?

I don't have manual with me but if there are more settings that could potentially fix this connection then this suggestion is welcomed.

My only problem could be that my connection is through a hub that connects to the ODU.

@Aetopia connect the Ethernet cable that goes to the IDU to a laptop and you can login to the ipv6 gateway address that the laptop shows up. Internet wouldnt work straight away because we need a GRE tunneling to be done. There arent much settings to change on the ODU too. I believe you should be able connect through the switch too. I basically moved the ODU to a different direction and place on my terrace. They dont seem to use a specific tower for airfiber, it just works as any 5g connection, so used my mobile with netmonster app installed and made the ODU connect to the same PCI as my mobile by moving it. If you try just ensure you have very good RSRP, RSRQ, SINR when you put it back.

The ODU has a router mode which can be set, I dint try it because it doesnt enable any additional menu to configure the mode further and I dont want risk it and ending up to have it reset to make it work again.

Mind giving a step by step tutorial?
I am not that tech savy in terms of networking as well as the terms involved in it.

I have my PC directly connected via Ethernet to the IDU.

As for a few things to note:
1. I have accessed the IDU's gateway.
2. I am don't have access to the manual for ODU essentially I don't have the box since there is another household in my building that got Jio AirFiber before us.

I have very much keen into looking into what the ODU can offer in terms of settings.

@Aetopia Use the ethernet cable which goes into the IDU (the one along with the power cable). Once you connect, you should see a New ethernet connection in control panel. Use the default gateway address from the ipv6 properties to login. The default password is same as the IDU’s after reset, login is Admin.

The ODU menu is also locked down like the IDU, nothing to change there, it would be useful to see the signal properties though. BTW, they did not update my ODU firmware so it is something from october date. So I am not sure if there is anything new in the newer firmware.

It is really surprising that they plan to share the internet between multiple homes with this device, even the download speeds wouldnt suffice if both are heavy users.
