Hi.. I am planning to buy Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 LTE.
The website mentions that for its LTE to work, you need:
1. Samsung smartphone and
2. Airtel (postpaid) /Jio (postpaid/prepaid) connection.

I don't have a Samsung smartphone (using OP 7 PRO) and am currently on Airtel prepaid. Has anyone on this forum had an experience to make this combo work on the watch? Any workarounds or tips would be appreciated.

I read a few articles where people were able to use it with jio on ANY android smartphone. However, I don't want to move to jio and airtel postpaid would be too much based on my current usage.

Suggestions welcome.

It will work on any android or iOS. You will need to install Galaxy wear app on your device to configure watch active 2.

My question is specifically on its LTE to work. Airtel mentions that it works with only Samsung devices. I have alse read a few articles where other android device owners are struggling. Are you sure that its LTE works with any Android device?

Been there done that buddy...I don't know how it stands now but 4 months back when I bought the watch (really wanted to have the watch despite issues with Airtel and Samsung Galaxy phone requirements for esim/LTE activation) I had to port to Jio(hate it cos signal is bad inside my house but works fine outside. vowifi has taken care of that issue now ).Both my sims earlier were Airtel prepaid and my handset is op6t. Even after porting out of Airtel I couldn't activate it directly on my op6t but dunno how it worked with my old nexus 5 phone and after that I was able to use it on my op6t.
Am told that only Airtel 799 postpaid plan supports this watch and even then a Samsung Galaxy phone is required to activate it though I read in a few forums that some manged to activate it like me on LG phones.
Watch is pretty cool and have been enjoying using it for a while now for my runs and biking and pretty cool making short calls over it.pretty handy when going out without the need to carry my phone. Just that listening to Spotify (when biking/running)on lte drains the hell out of the battery. Would have been great had they given a higher mah battery.
The promised ecg feature has still not been activated. Do Checkout Galaxy watch 3 since you are in for purchase as it's their latest offering and many features come pre activated though its more on the traditional lines of a smartwatch and more focussed on design than activities.

@pujaari Thanks for the response. Guess I'll also have to move to Jio then and I already hate this feeling :(
Airtel has been seamless for me and everytime I move to jio, I tend to come back to airtel after 90 days! Guess, i'll have to keep a second airtel sim with me all the time now.

Also, thank you for the inputs on the watch. I have already ordered active 2. Galaxy Watch 3 is a good option, but I don't want to spend 39,000 on a watch which is just an incremental update over active 2.

Btw, Ecg can be activated on active 2 as well. There are some workarounds available online.

Yes, I would have tried that. But the other problem is, I'll need to switch to airtel postpaid (since it doesn't work on Airtel prepaid). And if I do so, i'll be stuck with them for 90 days and won't be able to port.

I've already bought galaxy watch 3 LTE, and having airtel prepaid plan, recharged for 1 year. Unknowing this criteria I bought this watch. Now I must wait 10 more months to port to jio😂 inorder to skip the useless spend. If any one know the solution to connect LTE airtel prepaid with MI phone, please share the idea.
