The design, features and style suits perfectly are the reasons enough for some people. You cannot apply logic there. But when it comes to choosing Windows over Linux, I know that I want to play some games, use Office 2010 for 100% compatibility with my documents. My no. 1 killer feature is system image creation of Windows 7 1st boot which I can restore to in 3 min, if my system crashes or hard drive goes boom. The replacements for these things on Linux are abominations. Libre office and Open office do not generate the RIM file from government created tax sheets.
I have left my geek days behind me and now hate tinkering my setup. My business data is more important and I cannot afford to keep on reinstalling Linux every 6 months when a new version is out. Linux feels like it has been made by a bunch of programmers without any direction. They change interfaces with blink of an eye. Hence Linux doesn't make any sense when it comes to businesses. If it did, Windows would have been history.
I won't be able to convince you no matter what constructive arguments I post. The only thing that can convince you is passage of time. Then you will only want to stick with something that just works and no brownie points for guessing what that would be. lol
On topic: Anyone knows from where I can buy Windows 7 cheapest in India? Online shop would do. (Hint: Do not suggest Linux

)Well, at office, ppl are cursing Windows. Very recently, one of my colleague had to finally upgrade to 4 GB RAM, and a 3 Ghz processor, even on XP, just coz the startup and loading time for each and every tool/file took ages just to open up.
Windows is used, just coz they have certain tools which are specific only to Windows......may be lobbying by them, so that companies/businesses are compelled to stick to that OS. This underlying need of using Windows is apparent even from ur post. Apart from certain Windows specific tools, Windows doesnt have anything new to offer. And for those handful of apps, u pay 6k for the most basic version of their OS. What an irony!
Not to mention the bunch of Viruses u get free on it! Either that, or u pay more & buy an AV suite to tackle that issue.

A special comment on this: U need not update it every 6 months. Its just that they release update. U need not install everytime it is available.
