Gmail Updates

Is it just me or marking a few emails as read via the new app doesn't mark them as read everywhere else i.e. Mobile Website and PC Website...
Lol my bad. I meant to write that when i read some unread emails thru the app they are not marked as read. Even on the mobile and pc versions of the website. I have to go to the mobile site and mark them as read.

Toolbar at the bottom is annoying. Could have been placed at the usual spot which is just above the editor.
 
OK. We have already discussed this here. Ads are not disguised as mails. They are shown as promoted messages.

You posted the screenshot yourself. Do these look like regular mails? And this is an opt-in feature. These appear only in promoted tabs along with other promotions sent to your mailbox.
In other words, stop spreading the FUD.
 
I don't know why do people create such a buzz for just one line of ad. At-least it's miles better than the ads displayed on Yahoo and Hotmail.
 
Makes for a catchy headline. I would also like to add something here.
Google is intentionally pushing these in the promoted tab alone. The idea is that you are already accepting promotions from third party services. So, it should not be such a big deal that they send their own promotions properly marked as ads in the same column. If this was happening in my regular inbox or regular tabs, I would find it nasty. But inside promoted emails column? Not so much. Especially when it is completely optional (you can have the other tabs and disable promotions tab).
 
Any update regarding recent hacking of Gmail accounts. Came to know that thousand od Gmail accounts have been hacked and used to spam to all available contacts.
