Good news: package prices reduced?

The ADTV site has been updated with the reduced prices for packages and top-ups.


The new prices for packages (old prices in bracket if I remember those correctly)

[*]Mega: Rs 235 (old 250)
[*]Ultra: Rs 400 (424)
[*]Value: Rs 115... Not sure but 'Buy digital TV' link page says Choose any package Starting @ Rs 115 pm (old Rs 125)

[*]Hindi: 45 (49)
[*]West plus: 25 (35)
[*]Kids plus: 20 (25)
[/list]Is it true? Can someone confirm it? Or does it have disclaimers like *conditions apply, taxes extra etc? Atlease the site does not mention any such disclaimers.

Its a great news for all those people whose free viewing period is about to end and also for those people using top-ups as their top-up cost should hopefully get reduced from the next billing cycle.

Before they gave 6 months of ESPN topup as free aswell for South Gold..But they removed it now..Luckily i have purchased it just 2 days back!Also it says:*Prices are inclusive of all taxes

Sorry guys, The good news turned out to be bad news. The site has been updated with the disclaimer *Package Prices are exclusive of Taxes So in effect, Airtel has increased the package prices for the end users. This is very bad tactic from Airtel and it showed that they are no different from others. When I subscribed to Airtel, the main factor that influenced my decision was their tranparency. I mean I knew exactly how much I was paying. Now their packages may seem more attractive when you read the reduced price. But when you look at the *, you have to do the calculation for adding the service tax. And if you don't notice the *, then you are in for a big surprise when you notice that you are being charged much more than you anticipated I am disappointed. I'll think twice before renewing my subscription when my free viewing period is over.

Exclusive of tax is only for topups..Tata Sky is charging Rs.65 for ESPN,Start Sports and Star Cricket..while Airtel is charging only Rs.45!

I am not saying that these prices are the highest. The main problem I have is it has become more inconvinient for the customers. I am not sure, if the base packages are inclusive of taxes. I think they are also exclusive of taxes. Why would they treat base package and top-ups differently from tax perspective? May be, they have yet not updated the base packages page with the condition. Has someone got more information from the customer care? I don't care much for now as I still have some months of free viewing left
