It won't work here because it requires SMS based verification which Google will enable selectively in countries where it will be launched officially. The whole idea of a slow rollout of a video chat app is ridiculous considering Google's history with messaging apps. On top of that, you can use the app only on one device at a time. So if you want to use the app on your tablet then it will de-register itself from your phone so you will have verify it again. I am not sure how the app will work on a tablet with no calling facility because apparently SMS/Call based verification is the only method.
Its like Google wants the app to fail. Just 1 function - one to one chat. No Desktop support. Can be used only on 1 device at a time. Staggered rollout. And years behind other services/apps. Google can fucking die.
