I have experienced a drastic battery improvement from 4.3 to 4.4. As far as battery life between Dalvik and ART is concerned, it seems almost the same to me.

On the contrary I thought battery life was better on 4.3. You have the official update isn't it?

No. Galaxy Nexus didn't get the official update. But you can say 'official' because it's AOSP.

KRT16S sucks on my N4. Even the dialer hangs and needs to be manually exited, not to mention woeful battery life. Thinking of finally installing a custom rom.

Battery life is the same for me on my Nexus 4. There's a slight lag while pressing home button/app switcher button which is being reported by many users on XDA. Switching to ART makes the phone snappier with no home button lags, but Whatsapp doesn't work with ART so sticking with dalvik. I think bugfix update should soon be on the way.
