If one is not sure about Google taking care of after sales, he can directly go to LG. There's no reason why LG won't warrant Nexus 5 purchased from play store. LG service is quite good in most of the places and its better to service Nexus 5 from LG for small niggles rather than going for RMA. One can't be sure about RMAed device because of wide variation in manufacturing, like some phones have yellowish screen, some have weaker speaker etc.
