Host Server on Dynamic IP !

Hello, If i m posting this thread in wrong forum, forgive me.I want to host a Counter strike 1.6 dedicated server, but i have a dynamic IPSo i need to give my IP everytime i restart the router. can anyone tell me how to fix this?I've heard about ppl registering their hostnames , what is that ??THX

you can register one name like av.dyndns.org later, you can add the details in your router =>dyndns page (if the router supports)so,when everytime you get a new ip, router updates it automaticallySo you will be able to use always http :// av.dyndns.org and do the stuff ! (or ports as you are aware of that )

Thx it worked, BUT another problem.I tried to forward a particular port for utorrent, when i checked whether it is forwarded or not on YouGetSignal.com - A collection of uncomplicated, powerful network tools , it says port is closed, but when i started utorrent it shows that port open, wat is this happening

If you have opened port, and if utorrent is saying that particular port is opened, then the port is open !

if you have a firewall it will allow uTorrent to open port but won't allow any other application/site to do the same unless you configure it in your firewall settings & that's why all such sites will show port as closed & that's a really good thing bacause it means your firewall is working like it should & only allowing uTorrent to use that open port & nothing else.
