Speedtest.net can only give a result of so much due to the distance from India and the way results are actually calculated. Speedtest.net is designed for testing the capability of your line to local servers, not how far you get to the other side of the world, so you can't expect more than 2-3mbit/s from here to Canada.

You'd be better off getting someone to download something over http/ftp as this will give a better indicator of what can be achieved by the connection.

Are you sure you want beam for your office works? I mean the speed is awesome but its a little bit unstable depending the area where you live. I mean i used to get 100% stability in our old area but when we moved into our new area 2 months back, i've already suffered 5 days downtime in the month of may.

So make enquiries before taking up the connection. But i have to add, i get 10mbps as promisied and this speed is awesome.

@mgcarley
I know that international bandwidth will be less than advertised speed. I am not expecting 10mbps to canada servers from beam. that's the reason i requested some beam users to do a speedtest using primus url. From my experience, primus speedtest result is very close to real world speeds from primus.

@bobbyguitarist

Thanks for your advice. i am not going to switch right away without testing the connection for few months. my BSNL 4mbps connection is very stable. but speed to canada servers is upto 1 mbps only.

^So does your ping, dude... I get ~300ms.

Table below describes Fair Usage Policy by package with effect from 01-April-2012
Package Name Speed FUP Limit Speed Post FUP
B-Max 410 512 Kbps 20GB 256 Kbps
B-Max 610 1 Mbps 20GB 786 Kbps
B-Max 1020 10 Mbps 30GB 2 Mbps
B-Max 1530 15 Mbps 40GB 4 Mbps
B-Max 2550 20 Mbps 60GB 6 Mbps

----------

Compair to anyother BB Beam still rocks in plans and price.I am not sure how long this is going to be.

Hmmm.. 1530 and 2550 plans are crazy.. even after FUP the speeds are awesome. I think Beam will last long and soon they will be only ones to touch 100mbits at cheap prices...

If you want it for office , they have business plans also
