There is one S/PDIF output available in the STB. Whenever you buy HT, check to see if this has support for S/PDIF or Coaxial

I have TS HD box which I have connected to my Sony Bravia 40EX600. Presently I am using my 2.1 for the sound. I wanted to upgrade to a decent 5.1 after realising that soon TS is going to launch Movies Now and Star Movies HD. After a detailed research I realised that I will not be able to use any optical port to get the best of the 5.1 audio as neither the TS box nor my LED TV has it. So the only way out is the digital coax. Sony talks about Bravia Sync which I presume that will syncronise all sony equipments. However, none of the Sony HT systems has a coax port. Then I wanted to know what are the options that I have now. I found Onkyo systems seems to be good and economical. I saw one of the model (dont really remember the number) but at 16k it was a decent buy. So the bottom line is, check if you have an optical port, else you should be buying one that has the digital coax input.

optical port is available only (at present) in the Dish TV HD STB.

Well, if your TV has an optical port, you can use your TV to output 5.1 to your HT. I would think the 5.1 output from your TS through HDMI to your TV will be Bitstreamed and thats how you should be getting 5.1 input for your HT.

There are plenty of LED TVs (Including other models of Sony) has optical output from the TV

Optical Port is a downgrade from HDMI....Plus you can use bravia sync only with HDMI as the HDMI cable is the one that controls the function.....SO optical port is no good if you want bravia sync to work....but you will be better off with an AV receiver and 5.1 speakers separate than a HTIB from Sony. Digital Coax is as good as optical and some enthusiasts term it as better....google on it and you well get the answers...but nothing to beat HDMI which is already there on all HD STBs available

I have a Sony 40 inch LCD which does not have a optical out port and Tata Sky HD. I also have a sony 5.1 home theater which has only optical in. So to get 5.1 i connect the coaxial out on tata sky to the optical in on my home theater and to do that i have a small converter which converts from Coaxial in to Optical Out. So you can use this converter in your situation.
