@Manish24

When I'm torrenting or running usenet.

I don't use the net much otherwise except for some odd college related work.

Should prolly add VPN settings to the router itself. Not sure how that'll work out.

Would be a bad idea for online shopping and banking. This is why I dial in manually.

It is visible, I agree it needs some script to run but again in this internet age, 95% people still don't know who uncle snowden is. What fbi snooping was all about. What US server is doing near delhi. so how can they know which script to run or which not to. Anyways I'm not confusing anything. By default all browsers are exploitable especially Chrome to run such scripts.
About headers they can identify you uniquely. Check ip-check.info/browserspy.dk/tejji.com.

please ask Admin of this site if he can get my/yours mac address.
and please provide me any website on www which can read my/yours mac address without me allowing a java app to run on my browser.
yes, you are confusion script word i used with javascript, perl etc.....having scripts installed on a server to serve webpages has nothing to do with what i said, they should be able to run scripts(mainly java, not javascript...there is a difference between these two...) on the client system.

and how uniquely you get identified my your HTTP headers depends on a lot of things.but in 99.99% of the cases they can't pin point you with only that information.

have been downloading torrents over more than 10 years.. probably literally every day since then.. nothing has changed. vpns are malarkey

would make sense if we were in aus/us.

All email ids I use to enter forums are triple looped to another main id (log in with a yahoo id looped to a gmail which is looped to the master yahoo id). So anyone wanting to know my master id has to run between gmail and yahoo. I never have opened my email ids from Android using my phone number. My Android id is also triple looped and not used for any purpose than Play Store.
?

you triple looped your emails or not doesnt matter.all you are doing is leaving behind more things to track you down.
you can only delay them by a couple of hours/days by doing that.thats it.

I can be tracked down by a government but I do not see Indian government getting very excited about a film review. As far as I understand to a government nothing is invisible unless one is a master at setting up and manipulating VPN which I am not.

It doesnt matter what you did.what matters is if what you did is a crime or not in that country.if you committed a crime in US then they will ask India to hand you over to them and since india is on friendly terms with US and US is like big boss of india,i see no reason for india to deny their request.if you were a chinese or russian then it would have been different :D

So hopefully except for a case of wrong identification (someone else has done mischief and by mistake my IP address is identified scenario) I am safe.

Am I on the whole right?

this is not how law/cops works.you said it is mistaken identity and they are going to say sorry to you and let you go.Nopes not gonna happen.
if you did something wrong and you dont know how to hide yourself then please dont do it.

TRUE!
I haven't seen any case against indians for downloading a hollywood movie but things can change in future.BUT if you are downloading an Indian movie then you should be more careful.I never download Indian movie directly :)

Anyway it is better to use VPN as much as possible to keep ISP/gov out of your business :)

Just remember, Reliance is financing every second major movie in Hollywood these days and almost every single American movie studio has an Indian presence (Fox, Disney etc.). It is easy to pretend that nothing bad is going to happen just because we live in India or whatever.
