Hmmmm
Then i will wait for a comrade to take the fall for us and then immediately secure things up at my end, unless that first comrade turns out to be me :(

you triple looped your emails or not doesnt matter.all you are doing is leaving behind more things to track you down.
you can only delay them by a couple of hours/days by doing that.thats it.

I do not think it is easy for a private organisation in India to get search warrants for US companies that easily. If I have commented on a forum in USA (I am on best behavior on forums in India as you can see) that X restaurant in Mumbai is not good quality and does not deliver what it promises, X restaurant has to serve notice to US Forum. There they will find my yahoo mail id with which I became member .. then X restaurant has to get search warrant for yahoo mail .. that yahoo id has a primary back up address of gmail .. then they get a search warrant for gmail .. they find I have another primary back up address in gmail of another yahoo mail. This is expensive (very expensive and time consuming). If I wrote a bad review of a restaurant they will need to set aside $ 20,000 to chase me across US companies. That itself is difficult since I am in India and it will be hard for an Indian company to serve notice on a US forum. Americans are civil rights freaks and they are likely to tell any Indian restaurant to GTH

I never abuse anyone who is powerful and wealthy. Nor do I abuse any political party or participate in FB.

It doesnt matter what you did.what matters is if what you did is a crime or not in that country.if you committed a crime in US then they will ask India to hand you over to them and since india is on friendly terms with US and US is like big boss of india,i see no reason for india to deny their request.if you were a chinese or russian then it would have been different

No question of committing a crime in USA. As I said I had expressed doubts about an Indian meditation retreat in a US meditation forum. What I wrote was not slander but I had quoted a guy's blog which had said the program was rotten. An Indian (NRI or resident Indian I dunno) had argued with me (he being a fan of the meditation retreat in question)

It is hard to convince an American judge of anything. They come down heavily on side of civil liberties. Showing probable cause (for search warrant) in US is much harder than India. If a forum gave up my ip address they are themselves also liable for hosting slander. Is it not? A forum has a moderator and that moderator was also part of the discussion.

this is not how law/cops works.you said it is mistaken identity and they are going to say sorry to you and let you go.Nopes not gonna happen.
if you did something wrong and you dont know how to hide yourself then please dont do it.

I did not say that I said opposite. I said if I am victim of mistaken identity then I am spending lot of time in jail or coughing up huge lawyer bill or both. But apart from that I am not worried.

I did nothing wrong. But since freedom of speech is not properly defined in India I was bit worried when I wrote and others quoted me so I could not remove what I wrote .

Now you could of course say if I have no concern, why did I begin the thread. Correct, that at that time I was worried.

Now I am not worried because I have gone over what I posted and no US judge would consider issuing a warrant based on what I wrote. And the meditation retreat I posted about will need a budget of $ 20,000 to just start chasing me. Lawyers there cost $ 400 per hour.

However I am glad to see that interesting points have come up in this thread. I had idea that BSNL logs get cleared once every quarter (the time to get a court case going in India and USA) and a dynamic IP address therefore hid me. As far as I know they are overwritten in a quarter. Here it says it is overwritten in a week (default)

How Long Does Your ISP Store IP-Address Logs? | TorrentFreak

I am depending on default log deletion + speed of Indian courts + difficulty of asking an American forum to give up my ip address (they are big on civil rights) + speed of BSNL bureaucracy to keep me safe.

But I will henceforth avoid getting into arguments in forum (not this type but the tooth and nail type of argument)

Now torrents is a different matter entirely. I rarely download films where Indian companies have a stake. It is a risk but those on LAN ISP with static address are far more at risk. I have to review the issue of torrents when I have time.

Any media company will first go after someone who saw a film on YouTube. That will be a warning to those who download torrents that they are fair game and next in line.

People diss companies all the time. As long as your concern is valid, I don't see why you shouldn't argue!

BSNL maintains records for 3 years (link below). It is offline so they have to copy and move the log files. But how far that log file is available to a private entity I cannot understand. Of course to prevent terrorism it is important. But if I am annoyed at a member here and get a search warrant for BSNL I do not think they will give up their logs that easily.

I cannot yet figure out how torrent can be tracked. Torrent is peer to peer. All one can say is I have visited a torrent site and downloaded a torrent file. How can they pinpoint someone has downloaded a movie. It has come from 20,000 different users.

When prosecution happens in West they never say is one prosecuted for downloading the 30 kb torrent file or the 3 gig movie the file led to. Have to study it up.

I run this forum where we mock and criticize telecom companies and more all the time and my identity is not hidden in any form. You can find my name, address, telephone number and a lot more through a simple Google search. I have received a few threats but most of that was years ago when this forum was really popular in search engine rankings. Not much these days. In the end, my own public criticism are connected to my name and I am not really worried about it because I have no malice motive to do it without a reason. If a company did not deliver on its promises, I would criticize it online and offline with my real identity.

No private company is or can chase you.if you did something which is a crime there then they will file a case against you and cops of that country will chase you.government of that country will be spending money and time to chase and bring you to their country.private organizations will not and can not do that.

Yep.thats RIGHT! leave things to the luck.

i am not sure how long they keep ip logs but i assume it to be no less than couple of years and safe bet would be to assume that these logs will never be deleted and just transferred to a backup server and will be accessible even after 10 years.only person who can answer that question are the technical guys maintaining the databases for ISPs.

As the saying goes:hope for the best plan for the worst. :)

All i can say is MAY GOD BE WITH YOU. :)

Correct but you have a right to criticize only if you used. I did not use the product. I quoted a guy who used it and was fed up. So I was disseminating information I did not know first hand (the reason I got worried and came running here).

Meditation retreat etc places have wealthy NRI followers of Gurus which had me worried. But after reading my post many times I have decided it is not slander.

But very nice discussion. I came to know that I have to look into possibility of a VPN.

In any case, stay away from criticising political people and swamis and gurus and dons and goons with political connections. It is just not a good idea. These are the group of people that would not bother about the law to target you directly.
