I sent the following email to Tata Sky customer care. I shall update on getting a response. Meanwhile I would like to see your thoughts on this....======================Hello Tatasky customer care,I am a customer of tatasky and my subscriber ID is xxx.The tatasky customer care was unable to transfer my call to a highermanager of customer relations. Hence I am mailing this. I would likethis email to be forwarded to the highest authority in tataskycustomer relationship. This will be an eye opener that why tatasky isgoing to loose lot of customers, if it does not properly takes care ofits customers.I am using tatasky DTH for more than 6 months. I use it mainly towatch DD Podigai and other tamil channels. Recently I found that DDPodigai was missing from my channel list. I called up customer careand I learnt that it was removed from the offering. I was not evenallowed to choose a different package to include this channel. This is an atrocious and customer unfriendly decision by tatasky.Doordarshan channels are free to air, unbiased and very informativeas against other tamil channels which are biased towards politicalparties and are mostly of entertainment purpose.1) Removal of DD5 channel was not intimated through the digibox orother means prior to removal.2) DD5(Tamil) is still shown in the list of channels in tataskywebsite and tatasky is still trying to woo the customers with achannel name that it does not offer.3) Customers(including me) were not asked removal of this channelbefore removing.4) Removal of Tamil regional channel leaving other language regionalchannels from doordarshan is a racial move of tatasky against Tamilcommunity, since tatasky retained other language Doordarshan channels.I asked the customer care about cancelling the connection and alsoenquired about the refund of remaining balance in my account. I wasinformed that I would have to forego that amount. This is also ahighly unfair trade practice for which I plan to goto consumer courtafter receiving your email reply.I took this connection mainly for DD Podigai which is not availablethrough terrestrial means in my place. This channel was removedwithout informing me. Atleast I should be offered a possibility ofchoosing an add-on package to view this channel. When I cancel myservice for a deficiency of tatasky service, I am eligible for arefund of the unutilized amount in my account. I am also going tofight for a return of my initial deposit, since this was happened inless than one year of using this service. Before I take a decison mentioned in the email below. I want aconfirmation on each of the following points from the tatasky customercare.1) DD podigai will not be available in the very near future. If itwill be available, I want an approximate time line.2) DD podigai was removed without prior information to all the customers.3) Customers will not be entitled a refund of their account balance,if the account is cancelled due to unhappiness of the customer due tothe fact that what was offered/promised to the customer at the time oftaking the connection was removed and no alternative is provided.4) Customers will not be entitled for a refund of initial deposit forthe same reasons cited above. Please mention your confirmation on the above mentioned points andalso forward this email to the highest level of authority in customerrelations of tatasky.I would also like to inform that I might take the following steps onreceiving your reply:1) Cancel my tatasky subscription.2) Inform all my friends and relatives about the limitations oftatasky and create awareness to them that one day their favouritechannel could be removed by tatasky without informing them and noalternatives/refunds are possible.3) Raise my concern against unfair trade practice of tatasky bywriting to most of the popular newspapers, magazines and websites.4) Create awareness in Tamil dailies, magazines and websites againstthe racial move of tatasky against the tamil speaking community.5) Approach consumer court for refund of my account balance andinitial deposit and also compensation against my mental strain withtatasky.

This is with reference to your web query ************, enquiring non removal of DD Podhigai Channel.
We frequently use subscriber feedback to modify our channel offerings thus ensuring delivery of the best offerings to subscribers. Channels MH1 Sharaddha, Indiavision, Amrita TV, DD Podhigai, DD Sapthagiri, are being dropped from the Tata Sky service with effect from 26 May 2008. We endeavour to balance the varied viewing interests of consumers on an all India basis vis--vis specific preferences while simultaneously providing the best quality services at the best prices.
Please note that there is unlimited availability of content from various sources; however, limited transponder capacity and projected increased costs to consumers prevent us from carrying all the available content. DTH operators are required to carry a certain minimum number of Doordarshan channels and the laws also do not require announcing the dropping of DD channels in a press notice, both of which is what Tata Sky has complied with. We appreciate your effort in taking time to write to us.

LOL they do not care if 50 tamils stop watching Tata Sky plus if you sue them they will win the case easily. for 2 reasons: they can afford much better lawers and what they did is written in their terms and conditions. But I do feel sorry for you. Why dont u try Sun Direct im sure its more user friendly for Tamil people .

I got a phone call they will take this feedback. thanks for all your responses. Right now, I am not really trying to convince them to get DD Podigai. I am only trying to collect enough details from Tata Sky, so that I can goto TRAI or consumer court to get refund of my leftover money from my account balance. I also sent a reply to the above response with a cc to nodal officer (thanks to 'connectwithmenow')My email is as follows:Thank you for your email.Firstly, I appreciate the efforts taken by tatasky to add new channelswithout extra cost.I also understand and accept that due to bandwidth constraints,Tatasky cannot show several Tamil channels like RAJ TV, RAJ Digital,Jaya Max, SS Music, Isai Aruvi, etc.At the same time, I would like to express my strong disagreementagainst removal of one of the unbiased and informative Free-To-Airchannel in Tamil DD Podhigai. I am not even offered DD Podigai asadd-on package, even if I am ready to pay for it.Further I would like to point out that, I have not yet received areply to all my questions in my earlier email. I hope to get a earlyreply for the same.I agree that according to terms and conditions, tatasky is allowed toalter the channel offerings. But terms and conditions does not coverthat I will not be refunded 'my account balance' due to this change inservice.Based on the conversation I had with customer care, I want an emailconfirmation on the following to take further action. Especially point(1) and (3).> 1) DD podigai will not be available in the very near future. If it> will be available, I want an approximate time line.> 2) DD podigai was removed without prior information to all the customers.> 3) Customers will not be entitled a refund of their account balance,> if the account is cancelled due to unhappiness of the customer due to> the fact that what was offered/promised to the customer at the time of> taking the connection was removed and no alternative is provided.> 4) Customers will not be entitled for a refund of initial deposit for> the same reasons cited above.Hope to get an earlier response from tatasky.

did Tata Sky take survey and opinios before removing zee channels? or adding 9x and neo sports etc? or changing package to lifestyles? one more thing, with whom are they taking surveys and opinions b'coz i had never got a call from them , I think they are collecting surveys from Dishtv or Sun dth or Cable operators.:hysterical:

no use of this shitting nodal officers phone numbers anymore :wall: waste of money to call those numbers

You are perfectly right. How can we escalate Tata Sky behaviour and dropping channels at the drop of the hat to regulators?
