Imgur is blocking logins and uploads from Indian users

It seems Imgur has started blocking Jio users now, similar to how they blocked Airtel users two months ago. I wonder why is this happening.

I am seeing the same error as in the post I linked:

Overcapacity issue is a different issue. It happens regularly on imgur.

Weird. They were showing this error message to airtel users when it was blocked

@Sushubh Yeah, would have thought it is actually overcapacity issue if it was showing for everyone, but earlier it was happening only to Airtel users and now it is just showing for Jio users.

So... this started happening sometime yesterday. I thought it was a problem at their end. I can open imgur, access existing uploads but uploading a new image gives a cryptic error. Tried on VPN just now and upload went through just fine. Not sure what's going on with Imgur.

If it was a widespread issue, it would have made news by now. So it seems that they are specifically targeting indian IPs.
