Internet Light does not glow

Dear friends,Can anybody help me out.I am using this BSNL Broadband for more than a year. I am from Chennai.Recently i am facing the problem with my connection, when connect my modem to my laptop, the Pc/usb, ethernet, power LED glows but the internet light doesnt glow. Bcoz of this am not able to connect to the internet...I called up 1500, they cant trouble shoot the problem.any ideas??

Its difficult to get the exact problem from your post.
What I understood is, your Laptops ethernet LED goes "green" but not your routers LED. If so, make sure you have connected to internet using your pppoe dial-up. and try to ping your router (192.168.1.1) and then to any internet host.

The same problem is with me and I complained to them about , they said that there must be a problem in our telephone line and that is a minor issue can be fixed within a minute.

I think it is a line problem.
