Iphone 4 using vodafone (hotspot/tethering)

Yeah I have used tht quite a few times .. U just need to activate the hotspot from settings .. Its working both on iPhone and android .. also both on 3G and 2G ..
Wht prob u facing? Although at very beginning I faced a prob once .. At tht time it was saying "Contact Vodafone to activate this feature" .. But it turned out tht 3G wasn't working at tht time so I was getting tht message .. After some time it started working ..

I get the same message - "To activate Personal Hotspot contact Vodafone India". I am able to use the feature on 2G data but not on my 3G data connection.
 
Ok.. wht I did at tht time was just restarted the iPhone .. and then before activating hotspot make sure the ur wifi is off from settings .. if there is any wifi router too turn tht also off ..Cos iphone itself activates the wifi even if I set it to off (in case it find out some wifi connection is available).. I find tht very strange ..After doing this u can turn on the hotspot and it should work .. The other prob could be the backend issue .. the time I got tht prob was when vodafone was having some backend issue with their customer care and also 3g was working off and on .. So I assume may be tht could be an issue as well ..Btw was it ever working for u before (on 3g)? did it stopped working just 1-2days back?
 
Doesn't work with wifi switched off either. Right now if I switch off 3G on my iPhone the Personal Hotspot feature is active. But as soon as I switch on 3G it goes back to "Setup Personal Hotspot". When I click the button I get the same message "to activate .... contact Vodafone India". So it is clearly a problem with Vodafone as it works on 2G & not on 3G. Issue is with the pre-configured APN for tethering. The Personal Hotspot feature works fine with my BSNL connection on both 2G & 3G.
 
Install TetherMe from cydia. Should solve all the hotspot issues.

Can't do that. I have an unlocked iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3.5. Don't want to jailbreak as I don't like tethered jailbreaks.

Jailbreaking shouldn't be the solution here. Vodafone should resolve my problem.
 
Yeah right .. u also have the iPhone specific plan activated? If its working for me it should work for u ..
There r iphone specific 3G plan .. they r although same price and same data as others ..
Just check in the services u get iphone listed .. I guess u know how to get the services list.. sending MYSERVICES to 111

They say there is no iPhone specific 3G plan. Will have to check with them again. When i got 3G services activated, I had specifically asked for an iPhone 3G plan but they said they don't have any.
 
Yeah you should check with customer care. I remember very well that the customer care guy specifically told me that there are 3G plans for iPhone. He told me its exactly same as other plans but they r just for iphone.I asked how I can activate it myself but he told me you have to activate by calling the customer care. So he deactivated my old 3G plan and activated the new iphone plan. It took 2-3 days for the new plan to be activated therefore I remember about this incident.So either they r making u fool or they made a fool out of me :D
