best is to find reliance broadband users in your locality and ask them how it is working for them.

you can indeed continue to use your airtel number as a landline. here in gurgaon, the minimum rental comes to around 400 bucks which well sucks a lot.

Thank you for the quick reply... 400 is very steep for just a landline - I will call Air-Tel CC and ask regarding converison. I do not know anyone in my neighborhood who uses Reliance Wired BB - everyone is on BSNL/Air-Tel here

@ Games Goblin....

Admin replied to ur last query, i will reply to ur previous query.....Reliance is good overall - only confined to the Wired Internet business though. If u can get it in ur locality then u should consider this as an option. Coz i think they give 600 Kbits/s for 600-650 bucks, INCLUSIVE OF TAXES.
And its CC too is decent in most parts of India that i have heard till now - not heard many negatives of it.

Bottomline.....if u have this in ur area, then do consider it as an option.

Hi jymn2005

Thanks for the info. How is Reliance internet speeds on Torrents? Also, is there fluctuation in speeeds? - I have been experiencing fluctuations in my Air-Tel BB for about the past 2 months - some times it goes high up as 200 kbps and sometimes it falls to 10 kbps

well. whoever contacts you wrt Reliance... get some details from him about folks in your locality using reliance broadband. you might not know any, but there might be other folks using their network in your area.

i should warn you however... there are a lot of reliance folks here who have been either duped or are facing issues with installation. a person would come to your place. would collect a check or cash payment of 500 bucks in the name of installation charges. and the installation would never happen.

recent examples are however better. the 500 rupee installation fee is added to the first bill. so be a bit careful about that.

Thanks for all the tips. I have e-mailed Reliance CC regarding BB availability in my area. Hopefully they will get back to me soon.

@ Games Goblin....yeah as Admin said, there are a few cases where people have been duped - but all u need to ensure is, never pay a single penny to the guy who comes at ur place. Everything gets added to ur bill.As regards speeds - There will be fluctuations pertaining to Seeders' availability - the speed of the ISP doesnt fluctuate as such.....i am on 300 Kbits/s plan & i regularly get speeds ranging between 30-35 kbytes/s.......If there are less/slow seeders then it goes to 20-25 at times & if there a good/fast seeders, then the speed shoots up to Mbytes/s.......And there is no FUP, no Throttling of Torrent traffic as well.To conclude - be careful, but once done, it is good 1.

Hi allI have contacted Reliance CC and I'm glad to know that services are available in my area! Also confirmed that Combo 600+ Night^ Booster top up [600 Kbps(Day) 1 Mbps (Night)] is available for Rs.750- I also contacted Air-Tel CC and they said I can convert my landline/bb to landline only for a minimum of Rs.275 p.m. [175 free calling value - 1.20 Rs/min rate] :o If I take the Reliance connection I'll be paying 275 p.m. just to retain this no. - I think it's a waste - and too bad that Number portability facility is only for mobiles and not for landlines! The problem is that I have given this Air-Tel number to too many relatives/friends/businesses - I'm stuck in a dilemma here! I have to inform all the persons regarding the no. change. The moment this is resolved, I'm switching to reliance - hope it is soon!

I have one more question : I have learned that Reliance uses web-based login - is this a disadvantage? What type of modem do they use? Can I use my exisiting Wi-Fi router (Buffalo Airstation) with it?

i can say one thing. if web based login is compulsory, it sucks. my brother uses it and it is painful to say the least. do ask if you can bypass the web based login option to simply let your router login for you. makes no sense.
