A few days ago, my IP address changed, and since then whenever I restart the router, I get the same type of IP starting with 106.122. Previously, I used to get IPs starting with 182 and 122, which showed my correct location. But the current IP, starting with 106.122, is showing my location as Delhi. I contacted customer support regarding the incorrect location being shown, but they said they couldn't do anything. Then I found this forum and learned about public and private IPs. So, I wanted to ask, is my IP private? If yes, if I call customer support, will they make it public?

No. It is not Private IPs as Private IPs looks like 192 or 172 or 10.a.b.c. something so your IP Address is Public and Private IPs can't access through Internet. So, You are having Public IP Address starting with 106.122.x.x

You are getting assigned to 106.122.x.x servers IP Address. This is mainly occur when your backend servers get some changes from there sides or they got your connection shifted to some other machine or new machine assigned to your network connection. Nothing to be serious about it. If you are not getting any issue with new IP Address? You are good to go and use it ;)

I'm facing issues with the new IP, how long can I expect everything to go back to normal? It's been 5 days already. And yes, I accidentally mentioned the wrong IP address, it's 106.222.x.x

You have a public IP 106.x.x.x.x and as far as IP geolocation data is concerned it's only an approximation.

Nothing out of the ordinary as IP pools are reassigned from city to city and the location isn't updated. For e.g. I am in Pune while my IP location almost always shows Mumbai. It does not make a difference in practice. Airtel can't or does not do much about it either.

Also, what do you mean by not gone back to 'normal'? What is normal according to you?

for me normal is like IP which shows my location, like it used to show before with IP starting from 182.x.x.x and 122.x.x.x, actually I am using an bandwidth sharing app, and I get bandwidth sharing only on those IPs, I don't get it on other IPs, like 223.x.x.x, 106.x.x.x, 107.x.x.x, after restarting router I used to get IPs starting from 182 and 122, but now I tried 10-20 times but I am always getting IP that start from 106

ISPs change IP pools or routing per their internal policy or requirements and there's not much we can do about it.

Ditto with geolocation databases. Airtel may update that information or may not. Geolocation is not important in the bigger scheme of things. As I said before it's only an approximation.

Don't worry about anything @mAstic . Until or unless it doesn't affect your browsing/usage whatever you do, It is better to leave those things on hands of your ISP. They will surely try to upgrade there servers time-to-time and this type of changes can be seen on any ISP which ever you will OPT for. So, Don't worry about IP getting changed from regular IP Address.
Even, Mine IP Gets change between 2 - 3 IPs so it doesn't affect me. Just enjoy using it and if you think you faced any issue? like any internet problem? Just contact the Airtel Customer Care and get it resolved.

Put this address in ur web browser
"whois.sc/ip-address"

@Protector as I mentioned, I'm not facing any internet-related issues. I was just using bandwidth sharing for passive income, but it's stopped because of it.
