Is there any chance of Airtel going the Reliance Netconnect Broadband plus way soon ?

Does any one have any idea whether Airtel is also planning fast wireless broadband like Reliance Netconnect Broadband plus in the near future ?

Reliance was using CDMA technology and EVDO is a software upgrade to CDMA 2000 1x technology.On the other hand Airtel is using GSM technology. They will have to upgrade their network by installing equipment for HSDPA (3G). So, there will be no wireless broadband service from Airtel for now, that is untill 3G spectrum auction is held by the government. That auction is not likely to happen for another 6 months now, if it happens at all.

and that is why cdma is a superior technology compared to gsm. airtel should consider entering into the cdma market. they can really change the image of the cdma tech in india.

Umm, i think the trend is to move away from CDMA & towards GSM.

america is mostly cdma... i am not sure about japan or south korea... but i doubt gsm is that popular in countries where mobile broadband is actually fast.

and mittal is not saying that he would put FUP on 3G usage as well. the unlimited plans would cost in thousands of rupees and they would have stupid download limits. it's funny how they talk about E-payments, e-governance and a range of e-services when they complain about customers using too much of their bandwidth.

Since BSNL 3G in Rs. 3000 per month for unlimited traffic I would assume Airtel 3G would be around Rs. 4000 for unlimited FUP traffic.Of course Airtel wouldn't want people to use 3G for video streaming/ video calling, for that in India you would have to take a leased line (assuming they are safe from FUP).

no one has really reported a review of bsnl 3g unlimited pack here the best we have got is a dude's bad experience getting his connection to work on his mobile phone.
