Jio eSIM to Physical SIM

As I had ranted about earlier, I live abroad and visited India last year to convert my eSIM to Physical SIM. This undertaking failed owing to failed photo verification, 2 times. I believe it might have happened because I had shaved my head.

Long story short, I am visiting India (Kolkata) next month to try the same thing again, this time with normal hair. However, I am still afraid the same thing will happen again and I will be stuck. If the SIM request is rejected again, is there anything else I can do? I mean go to their office/center and beg to Jio directly? My first step would be to go to a Jio branded store.

Would appreciate any advice you may give.

That is a good option. The only problem is, I will be in India for only 4 days and I will be in a fix if the number is not ported within those 4 days as I won’t be able to activate the new sim outside india.

I converted eSim to Physical SIM through Jio Store. It took just 15-30 min for Physical SIM to activate. They took photo and Finger print authentication, that's it. And Rs 50 for SIM charges.
My appearance has also changed compared to Aadhar photo, but not that drastically. Besides they only need Aadhar number.

My experience was not as good. I went to India last year for 2 days just for this task. I went to Jio store and they easily issued me a physical SIM based on my DL. After 6 hours SIM was still not activated so I went back to the store. They checked the status and told me it has been rejected because of photo verification fail. Then they issued me another SIM, this time with Aadhaar biometric verification and this time I waited at the store. Within 15 minutes, rejected again.

Now, I already bought a new phone but cannot get rid of my old phone because it has the Jio eSIM.

It is not because of the damn photo in Aadhaar because the first time I tried it I used my DL, not Aadhaar. Also, I look not much different than my damn photo in aadhaar. So I don’t understand why the rejection is happening.

Maybe the staff at Jio Store is making some mistake on their end. Make sure to cross check everything they do and ensure uploaded images aren't blurry.

Unfortunately this story did not have a happy ending. I came to India and applied for a replacement physical SIM, the request was rejected again because of photo ID verification failure. This time I even had “longish” hair to match my ID photos. I contacted Jio customer care and they didn’t seem to know what to do next. If I were in India for a few months, I am sure I could reach a resolution on this, but I am only here for a week so I got a new connection.
Will spend the rest of my time in India updating my number at all the banks/Aadhaar.
